ColourQ #195, CASology #50 and Simon Says

I returned from my travels a couple of days ago and it seems as though I have been buried in laundry, paperwork and errands ever since.  I did have time to make a card today that I will send to my daughter--she is in a Creative Writing program in Virginia.  I assume she is having a good time because I have only gotten two texts from her and they were both very short--just to reassure me that she is alive and well and too busy to tell me all about it.  You would think that a girl who loves to write would have more to write to her mother.....

My card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #195, CASology #50 where the key word is 'FREE', and Simon Says....Anything Goes.  When I saw Cathy's butterfly card here, that Elton John song started running through my head, and I could not get it to stop (...butterflies are free to fly, fly away....).  So, I decided I would also use butterflies for my 'FREE' card.  I was also inspired by Lisa's butterfly card here

I used two butterfly dies from Serendipity, sent to me by my sweet friend, Jeanne.  I used the solid die to cut butterflies out of my front panel.  I filled those negative spaces with the detailed butterfly die cuts in Aqua Mist, SU Pale Plum and Spring Moss.  The sequins cover up some holes left by the solid butterfly die.  It appears that this die was not designed to cut where the negative would be used, but thank goodness for sequins.

It feels good to be back in the crafting mode.  I received lots of packages when I was gone, and I am excited to pull out a few new things and play.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Pretty Peonies
Paper:  White, Spring Moss, Aqua Mist, SU Pale Plum
Ink:  Versafine Smokey Gray
Other:  Serendipity Butterfly dies, Aida Impression Plate, N&T Sequins

Thanks for Visiting

  7. I love the way this looks, Joyce. You can't tell if the butterflies are a colored paper inset or white over a colored underlayer. Add to that the embossed background and you have a terrific card.

  13. I love your butterflies! You will have to sing that song for me at Stampafaire! I loved your story about no writing from your daughter who loves to write! Maybe someday she will write a book about you. No Mommy Dearest kind of book either.
