CASology Week #337...Burst

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is BURST.  I immediately thought of "the bombs bursting in air" and had a terrible ear worm of The Star Spangled Banner!  So, of course I had to use these fireworks stamps from Waltzingmouse, and will use it as a birthday card for someone with a birthday near July 4th.

Now it's your turn.  How does BURST inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the our Guest Designer Maria and the CASology design team.

CASology Week #239: Landmark

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is landmark.

I must admit to becoming a bit of a news junkie since the election last fall.  The plight of refugees and immigrants has been on my mind, and it seemed like a great time to pull out Lady Liberty herself, the Statue of Liberty--one of my favorite landmarks.

Now it's your turn.  How does LANDMARK inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

Our Guest Designer is Wendy.

Retro Rubber Guest Designer

I am so happy to be joining Retro Rubber this week as their Guest Designer,  They selected this card a few weeks ago as their favorite, and offered me the guest spot this week.

I took a pretty literal interpretation of their inspiration photo--I was instantly reminded of an old Waltzingmouse set I have had for a few years called USA 1776.  I stamped everything in Versamark one color at a time, and used Red, White, Gold and Verdigris embossing powder.  I would have used blue embossing powder as well, if I had it.

What do you think of this photo?  I hope you will be inspired to pull out some older stamps (older than one year please) and play along this week.

Four Assorted Cards

I've got an assortment of cards I've managed to make this week, in between getting ready for yet another trip back east with my daughter.  My first two cards are inspired by this card by Laura Bassen.  I am entering the first one at Simon Says Wednesday You Gotta Have Friends, Simply Create Too Your Sentiment is the Highlight and Simon Says Monday Anything Goes.  I used the same stamping technique as I used in this card, where I stamped in black and then overstamped slightly offset in another color.

I am entering this next card at Simply Create Too Your Sentiment is the Highlight and Simon Says Monday Anything Goes.  I stamped the 'thanks' sentiment repeatedly in Versa Mark ink, and then heat embossed the entire card at once in white.

This next card is another card I made out of a failed embossed and water colored background.  You can see the first card I made here.  There was more salvageable area on this card stock, so I was able to cut two butterflies, with a little bit left over to make a border at the bottom of the card.

I will enter this card at Simon Says Monday Anything Goes and Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

My final card is already in the mail to a friend--she has just become a US Citizen.  I finally found an opportunity to use my Ranger Antiquities Verdigris embossing powder.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday Anything Goes.

That's it for me today.

Three Cards for Wednesday

Three has seemed to be my magic number lately--the number of cards I can manage into a day.  My first card for today is actually a wine bottle tag that I will be using when we go to a friend's house tomorrow.  I used WMS USA 1776 to create a patriotic tag that will go on a bottle of wine that we will be bringing.  DH is currently out buying the wine, so I have a bottle of water standing in for the photo.  The Statue of Liberty silhouette stamp is embossed with Ranger Black Sparkle EP, and it is really sparkly in person.   I am entering this tag into this week's Simon Says...Patriotic challenge.

I will send this next card to my party hosts later in the week.  I am entering it into this week's CASology #51 Fireworks, Color Throwdown CTD249, and Simon Says...Patriotic Challenges.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I am trying to play in this week's A Blog Named Hero challenge every day, because the theme is Playing Favorites, and I have so very many Hero Arts stamps that are my favorites.  I am seeing how many of them I can work in.  This particular card uses the Hero Arts Envelope Pattern, Blossom Art, and Thank You Messages.  I am most madly in love with Envelope Pattern, even though it is a giant wooden stamp.  I could use that stamp on every single card if I were not careful.  I used the sketch at this week's Retro Sketches rs#70.  I am also submitting this card to the current challenge at Die Cut Divas.

A Trio for Tuesday

My first card today uses the sketch from this week's Seize the Birthday STB20, and I will also link it up to the party at Stacey's Stamping Stage.  When I saw this card by Michelle yesterday, I knew exactly what I was going to do for this challenge.  I had been looking for a reason to dive into my new Round Repeats set and also somewhere to use my new Lil Inkers Stitched Circles dies.  I love the fact that the Stitched Circles dies cut stitching on both sides of the die cut space.

My next card follows the sketch at this week's Mojo Monday MOJO300.  How fun to help Mojo Monday celebrate their 300th challenge.  I don't think I have played here since I started my blog almost 2 years ago.  I must say that I found this sketch 'challenging', but I guess that is the idea, right?  I am also linking it up to the party at Stacey's Stamping Stage

My last card for today is for this week's CASology #51, where the key word is FIREWORKS.  I am also playing in this week's A Blog Named Hero challenge #27:  Fave Stamp.  Today's favorite Hero Arts stamp is Newspaper Skyline.  This is the first time I have inked this baby up, and I just LOVE it.  I stamped it on white in SU Smokey Slate and fussy cut it out.  I popped it up on a background of SU Night of Navy that I stamped with WMS USA 1776 fireworks in Versamark and embossed them in Twinkle Cherry, Stampendous Winter Wonderland, and Ranger Silver.

I will be entering all of today's cards into this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge of Anything Goes.
