Papertrey January 2015 Blog Hop

Hello.  I have a quick post to share a card I made that was inspired by this photo for the PTI January Blog Hop.

I was inspired by the colors and shapes in the inspiration photo.  I used a stamp from It's a Banner Day repeatedly stamped in Orange Zest to create my background, and then fussy cut my sentiment, which I stamped in black on Blueberry Sky card stock.

I'm keeping it short so you can get on with the hop.

Two Birthday Cards

I've got two birthday cards to share today.  My first card is inspired by the Make it Monday #221: Masking Sentiment technique and uses the colors from ColourQ #304.

I stamped a birthday sentiment from PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday and then masked it while I stamped a background pattern all over the card using images from PTI Friends Till the End.  My inks were Hero Arts Charcoal and WPlus9 Gala Red, Lake House and Hayride.

I am also linking this card up at AAA #36 Maskerade and Casual Fridays #142 Pretty Patterns.

I came across a really cute stamp set (Impression Obsession Birthday Cakes) that was buried deep in my stash, and decided to pull it out and make a quick CAS birthday card.

I added a bit of color with Prisma Color pencils and Stickles.  There are so many cute images in this set that I want to use in the future.  I am going to keep this set in a more convenient location.  I am entering this card at Simply Create Too #92 Anything Goes and Seize the Birthday, no toppings.

Adventure Awaits and Happy Birthday

Hello.  I have two cards for today.  My first card uses the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #136 and the colors from ColourQ #303.  I stamped some of the fun camping images from PTI Petite Places: Happy Camper in a row across the top of my card.  Yes, that is all I did.

I was inspired by this card by Lizzie during the PTI August release festivities.  I used Wow Silver Pearl embossing powder to repeatedly emboss the word happy from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday on to a Soft Stone card base.  I think this card will go into my masculine birthday stash.  I am entering this card at the PTI Create Along With Us challenge.

PTI's 8th Anniversary Celebration

Hi.  I am popping in very quickly to post a card for Day 7 Heavy Metal Challenge.  I cut the Modern Cross Quilt cover plate out of true black and then adhered it on a tilt with foam tape.  I die cut thanks in gold foil and black a few times and stacked them all together.  Then, stuck the stack onto my card, and I was done.

My next card is for the Blue Ombre Challenge.  I took two paint chips with varying shades of blue, sliced them up, and stuck them on my card front on a diagonal, trying to mix the colors up randomly. I used a birthday sentiment from Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday.  Pretty quick and easy.  I think I am going to go to the paint store tomorrow to get more paint chips.  I am having too much fun usng them on my cards.

Retro Sketches and Make it Monday

Happy New Year!!  Is this what you feel like today?  Not me--I was asleep by 11 last night.

If you are looking for my 2013 review, please click here.

Today, you are going to see me use more patterned paper than I think I've ever used.  My first card  today is for Retro Sketches #91.  I was happy to see that they extended the deadline, which gave me time to play along.  I used scraps from MME On the Sunny Side and the cute little polka dot house from Polka Dot Parade #10.

This week's Make it Monday #146 Angled Backgrounds is a fantastic way to use up patterned paper scraps.   I used some scraps from Simple Stories Awesome to make a masculine birthday card.  The sentiment is from Stylish Sentiments Birthday, stamped on a Tag Sale #2 die cut.

Then, Kim gave me the fantastic idea to raid my 4-of-a-Kind and 12 Kits of Occasions leftovers, and I made three more cards using leftovers from 2 of those kits.  I could go on forever with this, but I ran out of time way before I ran out of patterned paper scraps.

This card is made from scraps from last January's kit where I was the hostess.  I saw the solid borders on Kara's MIM card, and borrowed that idea from her.  I die cut three 'love' words from Pure Poppy, glued them together and coated them with Glossy Accents for the sentiment on this card.

The scraps for the next two cards came from Christina's July kit.  My sentiment is a couple of 'happy' die cuts from Tipped Tops stuck together and adhered to a Fillable Frame die cut.

The sentiment on this card is from Ruby Rose, stamped on about half of a die cut from Angled Labels, and the faux stitching is from Sew Simple Borders.

This MIM runs through Sunday night, and I am hoping to make a few more cards using my patterned paper scraps.  It feels really good to use some of that paper.

Happy Birthday Christina

Happy Birthday Christina

Surprise

A few of us have gotten together to celebrate Christina's birthday.  I have been fortunate to get to know Christina through our 12 Kits group.  Before that, I was a stalker of her blog. Christina is one of the most talented crafters I know.  I cannot say how many of her cards I have pinned and cased.  I just love her style.

Here's to a very happy birthday, Christina.

Christina's blog is named SeaGlass Papercrafts, so I thought she might like a seaside birthday party.

I used this week's CAS(E) this Sketch to make my card for Christina's birthday.

I took a hint from Kelly G., and put some patterned paper on the inside of the card.

And, some more patterned paper lining the envelope.

I am also linking this up at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge of Keep it Clean and Simple.

And now, please hop around to the other birthday blog hop participants.

ColourQ #214, Seize the Sketch #7 and CAS-ual Fridays 119.

Tracey's Birthday Linky Party is going on all week.  Everyone is invited to share in the fun.  If you are looking for Tracey's Birthday Linky Party, please click here.

My first card today is for this week's ColourQ cQc #214.  I thought these colors would work well for a masculine birthday card, and I used my brand new Confetti Garland Borders stamps and dies to make a quick  CAS card.

I decided to stamp a little on the inside, too.

Off to Paris using City Scene with my card for Seize the Sketch STS #7 and CAS-ual Fridays CFC119:  Embossing.  I used some paper from Basic Grey Persimmon and embossed it with the Sunrise Impression plate.

I am also entering both of these cards into this week's Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  Keep it Clean and Simple.
