With Sympathy and Thank You

Hello and happy Sunday.  I'm quickly popping in to share 2 cards I made yesterday.  My first card is for the PTI Create Along with Us Challenge, and I decided to CASE this beautiful card from Michelle.

My next card was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #296.

Running off to do some errands.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

Square Prints Finally Stamped Straight

I was admiring Geri's stunning card that was a winner at CAS(E) this Sketch last week, and it dawned on me that I could try to make something similar with my Misti.  I have long been frustrated by PTI Square Prints because I find it impossible to line up or stamp straight.

Well, I still need some practice, but here is what I was able to do right off the bat.  I would love to hear your best tips on using the Misti or links to your favorite videos.

I used colors from this week's ColourMe #85.

Two One Layer Cards

I am playing along with this month's One Layer Simplicity Challenge #7:  Wave the Flag.  My first entry is so super simple and CAS, and I really like how it came out, although it is nothing like what I had envisioned in my head when I started out.  But, after trial and error, playing around with different stamps and placement, I ended up with something that is very simple, and I could probably make 50 more just like it in an hour.  Kind of the definition of CAS, right?  I think this card would be perfect for Operation Write Home.

Stamps are PTI Boy Basics Simple Circles and Square Prints, sentiment is from Desktop Design and inks are SU Night of Navy and Real Red.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday:  W is for White.  Lots of white space on this card.

Here is another one layer card that also fits the criteria of One Layer Simplicity--I used this week's Make it Monday #170:  Masking with Die Cuts to duplicate the card I made for Darnell's birthday yesterday.

I like this one OK, but I don't think it quite has the punch of the original (card on right)

That's it for me today.

PTI 6th Anniversary: Color Inspiration and Design Team Favorites

More anniversary festivities.  Today, we had a Color Inspiration Challenge.  I would have liked to complete all 6, but ended up running out of time at 4.  I decided to have each card use a Color Inspiration as well as one of the Design Team Favorites.

For color Inspiration No. 1, I used a card by Maile (lower right).  This is going to be part of the set I started yesterday.  I used Copic markers in colors as close to the PTI colors as I had.

Color Inspiration No. 1

I used a card by Cristina for Color Inspiration No. 2 (lower right).  I cut apart some of the sentiments from Sentiment Signs, and stamped images from various background sets over them.

Color Inspiration No. 2

Cristina again for Color Inspiration No. 3 (upper right).  I tried to rotate her sketch 45 degrees, and also added glossy accents to some random squares.

Color Inspiration No. 3

Erin's brightly colored chevron card (lower left) really caught my eye.  I loved the way she mixed patterns and colors within each chevron.

Color Inspiration No. 6

PTI 6th Anniversary: Design Team Favorites

I played hookey today.  That's right.  In the limited time I had for crafting today, I did not watch any of the videos for my Clean & Simple Card Making class.  Nor did I do any of the fun homework.  What I did was get totally caught up in the first of what I assume will be many contests and activities for PTI's 6th Anniversary celebration.  I could spend all week just casing all of the design team favorites, and I just might do that.  Today, I was able to make three cards.

Christina

My first card is a CASE of this card by Christina.  I loved this card the moment I saw it during the release count down.  I used Background Basics:  Super Stripes and a sentiment from Folk Art Florals for my take on it.

Christina

My next card is also a case of Christina.  My stamping is not as crisp and clean as hers (surprise, surprise), so I raised a few of the squares with foam tape.  Hopefully, that will add interest, and distract your eye from my less than perfect stamping.

Debbie

My last card for today is a case of this card from Debbie.  I changed the colors, because I felt like I had to change something, and not just make an exact replica.  I used Vintage Cream and Kraft, which are the colors of this week's Less is More 2nd birthday challenge--Happy Birthday Less is More!

And, because there are just a couple more hours left of this week's Simon Says Challenge for Anything Goes, I'll be submitting all three cards for that challenge as well.

That's it for me today.  I hope to case more of the fabulous PTI design team tomorrow.  And, do my homework, too.
