WPlus9 Monday Mood Board #10 and a Card Set

I made a card for the WPlus9 Monday Mood board #10.  I was inspired by the colors, and what looked to me like water coloring.  I used a technique shown here to create a pattern with my WPlus9 Quilt Prints stamp set.  I used a water brush and my Inktense pencils.  My colors came out much darker and bolder than I planned--I was going for a softer look, but that is not what happened.  At any rate, the board did still inspire my card, even if it is hard to tell from the final product.

I am also submitting this card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays Birthday Bash challenge.

I made a card set based on this card I posted earlier in the week.  The original was cased from Tracey's card here.  I had fun just picking color trios that looked nice together.  I was on Facebook with Tracey, and she was also giving me color ideas.  I used one stamp from Modern Basics for all the focal points, various sentiments from Framed Out, a Tremendous Tag Die Cut, Twine, and the Picnic Plaid Impression Plate on all of the cards.

Orange Zest/Limeade Ice/Hibiscus Burst    Baja Breeze/Scarlet Jewel/Ocean Tides

Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist   Kraft/Terracotta Tile/Garden Green
Hawaiian Shores/Orange Zest/Hibiscus Burst    Winter Wisteria/Blueberry Sky/Royal Velvet

I used a stamp from Boutique Accessories to package the cards together.

Here is the final package.  Tracey got this really cool die from Laurie Wilison that lets you use your card to decorate your gift bag.  She was kind enough to send me some die cuts, as I do not have that die (yet).

Four Cards for Five Challenges

I am in love with this week's ColourQ colors.  They are so bright, fresh and happy.  When I saw Tracey's inspiration card for this challenge, I knew I needed to CASE it immediately.  I will also be linking this card up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays birthday challenge, as well as this week's Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

A  recent house guest sent us a wonderful cookbook from Cook's Illustrated--we had been discussing it over dinner during his stay.   I decided to use my new Serendipity Books stamp to make him a thank you card.  This is one of the stamps I picked as part of my prize package a few weeks ago, and I used this stamp to make a background, which is this week's challenge over at SSCB#10.  I tried to make this thank you card as masculine as possible--kraft, brown, woodgrain, no bows, glitter, or gemstones--check.  I thought the books image was perfect for a thank you for the gift of a book.

My last card is for this week's Make it Monday #113:  Perfect Pearls.  I was happy to see this video, since I had bought a little container of Perfect Pearls some time ago, but never knew how to use them.  While I am not in love with the card I made, I am glad that I broke out this powder, and am encouraged to start playing around more with it in the future.

As you can see, it is a bit difficult to photograph, but it does have a nice shimmer in person.  Here is a close up:

My last cad is for this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash #16.  The sponsor this week is Avery Elle, so I broke out 2 of my newest Avery Elle sets--Link it Up and Fanfare.  This card took me 7 minutes 17 seconds.  I will also be linking this card up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays birthday challenge.

Retro Sketches #16

I have a card today for this week's Retro Sketches #16.  When I first saw this sketch, I admit to being a little confused and intimidated.  But, after a bit of thinking, I came up with something.

What I took away from the sketch was lots of different shapes and textures across the middle of the card.  Kasia's example inspired me to go for some color, too.  Now, I am a CAS kind of gal, so I decided to use PTI Label Basics to get my shapes, and the Canvas/Linen IP for my texture.  I added just a simple sentiment from Modern Basics.  All colored inks are PTI:  Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, Ocean Tides, Winter Wisteria, Blueberry Sky.
