Some Cards I Made This Week

I had a fun and crafty week....I must admit to feeling more hopeful these days.  First up is a card inspired by this card by my friend Lindsey.  The idea came to me in the middle of the night as something I could do for the MFT Birthday Project Challenge: Balloons.  The next morning, I woke up and made my card.

I created a mask out of scrap computer paper and the MFT Skyline die, and used the MFT Big Balloon stencil with distress oxide ink blending.  After I sponged everything above the skyline, I removed the skyline mask and did a really faint bit of inking at the bottom of the balloon, just to make sure that the shape was recognizable as a balloon.  I am also entering this card at WWC297 and Seize the Birthday #203 with no topping.

Next up is this card I made with one of my recent Mama Elephant purchases, Oh Penguin Tree.  I just love how cute these penguins are, and when I saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #398, I knew it would be the perfect stamp set to use.  I used colors from this week's Color Throwdown #619 and am also entering this card at The Daily Marker 11 Day Coloring Challenge.

I made this thank you card using rustic cream cardstock, a large Thank you die from Poppystamps and a bunch of woodland critters cut from fall colors of cardstock and various Whittle critters.  I am entering this card at the Poppystamps Challenge #74: Colors of Autumn, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Thanks, The Card Concept #143 (my style is clean and layered and I was inspired by the thank theme as well as the fall colors in the inspiration photo), and Fusion: Thankful.

I used the dies from the MFT Fox & Friends kit to create this card, which uses the sketch  from the MFT Sketch Challenge #515.  I die cut everything out of white cardstock and used ink blending to color all the pieces.

Last up is a trio of cards I made inspired by a sentiment I found in an older PTI stamp set (Garden Grace)--and it seemed to capture the hopeful mood I have been in the last few days.

I am entering both of these cards at The Flower Challenge #50: Use a Sentiment.

And, my final card with that sentiment I loved so much.  This one uses a die cut from In the Woods, and I masked off the edges and blended various shades of green distress inks.

My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  I'm starting out with a card that is a total CASE of my friend Lindsey's card here.  I used a mask with a circle cut out in combination with a mask of a NYC die cut to create my focal point.  I sponged a night sky using an ombre collection of Distress inks, then added my Santa sleigh and reindeer up in the sky and my sentiment down below.  It's hard to see in this photo, but I used WOS to add glitter to my Santa sleigh and reindeer.

I am entering this card at ABC Christmas: U is for Up in the Air, Just Us Girls #557: Ombre, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Make it Sparkle.

AAA Cards #176 asks for a card with a cozy scene in the corner.  I had two ideas for this challenge.  Here is the first, using Mama Elephant Sincerely Yours stamps and a PTI cover plate for dry embossing.

I am also entering this card at WWC292 and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Dry Embossing.

Here is my second idea for AAA Cards #176, using Newton's Nook Book Club for this card. I am also entering this card at Festive Friday #69: (cat, embossing, clean & simple) and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Dry Embossing.

Last up are 2 very quick to make cards inspired by the colors at Color Hues #3 and the challenge at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Make it Sparkle.

I used a 3D embossing folder I just got from Altenew and a technique from this video of Jennifer McGuires.  I 'swinked' my gold Delicata ink directly onto the embossed card stock--only the very highest layer got just a touch of gold.  I am also entering this at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Dry Embossing.

Last up is the other card for Color Hues #3.  I was also inspired for this card by the challenge at Ink to Paper to make a 'beautifully simple card'.  I stamped the largest butterfly from PTI Ever So Much in Gold Delicata ink on cream card stock.  I am also entering this card at Inkspirational #223: Angle it.

CASology Week #363...Skyline

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is SKYLINE.  I cut the MFT New York Skyline out of black card stock and sponged a little bit of yellow ink around the area where the die cut met the card front.  I have so many people in my life with connections to New York City that I don't think this birthday card will stay in my stash for too long.

Now it's your turn.  How does SKYLINE inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our Guest Designer and the CASology design team.

Mice on Ice and NYC

I am totally smitten with the adorable mice from Lawn Fawn Mice on Ice.  Here they are sending a hug to my niece who lives across the country and loves to skate.  I am entering this card at CAS(E) this Sketch #340, Color Throwdown #561, and AAA Cards #149.

When I saw the new challenge at The Library Challenge #42: I'll Take Manhattan, I knew I just had to play along.  I am headed there in a couple of weeks to meet my daughter for a long weekend.  I used the sketch, again, at CAS(E) this Sketch #340.

Short and sweet for me today.  Off to walk the dog!

My Crafty Week

I had a super crafty week.  This week, I went to Camp Create at MFT for the first time.

I earned 4 badges so far, and hope to complete the 5th tomorrow.

Day 1 was Wonderful Watercolor and I made a watercolor sky behind my New York city skyline.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to 'Make Your Own Background'.

Day 2 at Camp Create was Remarkable Resist, and I made this card by heat embossing Roses All Over with white embossing powder and then blending a variety of blue and green Distress inks.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to 'Make Your Own Background'.

Day 3 at Camp Create was Spectacular Shakers  and I used supplies from the Good Time To Wine card kit for my card.  This was the first time I have ever used shaker pouches for a shaker card, and I am completely convinced.  I have never successfully created a shaker card that actually shook, and these pouches made it so easy.

Those shaker wine glasses were so fun and easy to make that I made another card with them and I am entering it at Seize the Birthday (no toppings).

Day 4 at Camp Create was Glitzy Glitter and I used the colors from MFT Color Challenge #121 to create my card.  I liked the suggestions on how to use just a bit of glitter to avoid a glittery mess, and I used glitter washi tape over my sentiment and Gold Stickles as my candle flames.

I just received a set of tiny adorable pandas from Mama Elephant, and they were perfect for this week's challenge at Less is More #400:  Small Images.  A special thank you to Michelle, whose DT card most directly inspired this card.  I used colors from Just Us Girls #497 and am also entering this card at AAA Birthday #3: For the Girls.

That card led to this card, also inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #397.  I am also entering this card at Just Add Ink #466, where the colors and the Christmas theme were my inspiration, Shopping Our Stash #400:  Christmas in July, The Male Room #115: Christmas in July and also Less is More #400:  Small Images.

And, now for the sad part.  I needed a few pet sympathy cards this week, and also had to replenish my stock of that type of card.

This card was inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch #331.

I am entering this card at Paper Players #451: Masculine and AAA Cards #145:  One Image.

And lastly, I am entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Animal Magic.
