Lawnscaping #63 and Color Throwdown #254

I have not played at Lawnscaping in a very long time.  Since I love one layer cards, I thought this would be a good week to jump right in with their challenge No. 63:  One Layer.  I recently won dies to Critters in the Forest, and thought I could add interest to my one layer card with some masking and a little die cut window.

The front owl is actually stamped on the inside of the card.  I thought this would be a fun way to say 'hi' to my daughter who loves owls.  This will get tucked into her suitcase some time.  She seems to always be packing up and going somewhere to see her friends.

My next card is for this week's Color Throwdown CTD254.  The first time I used my Rainbow Stripes dies, they made me think of a road, and I thought it would be fun to combine these dies with Enjoy the Ride.   I die cut each piece, adhered them on a piece of scrap card stock, fussy cut it all out, and ran it through my Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder that looks like tire tracks.  I paper pieced Soft Stone paper over the headlights and front windshield, and coated them with Glossy Accents.

My daughter and a niece are both going on 16, so whoever makes it to drivers ed first will likely get this card.

  1. Joyce your Lawnscapping card is so cute! I love the owl peaking through the die cut! I didn't know you had that embossing folder, perfect for tire tracks! Love both.

  2. Your owls are so adorable--love the idea of one peeking out from inside the card! And you car design is such fun--perfect for a student driver!

  3. Cute cards. Very clever how you have the owl peeking from the inside.
A student diver; lucky you. I taught both of my kids how to drive since Driver Ed in Ohio is actually very little time behind the wheel. It has changed since then. Now students must have over 150 hrs before they can try for their license.

  4. Pretty lovely creation.

  5. cuute little owls!! love the diamond plate texture on the 'road'!

  6. What darling cards. I love how you did the owls and your second card is fabulous. The embossing on those die cuts is just perfect with those dies and the feel of the card.

  7. Amazing cards! I love your owl card and that coloring is just fabulous! Love your idea of adding cards in your daughters luggage. Now your drivers license card is just too stinkin' clever, love how that card looks like it is driving off your card, so fun.

  8. Both of these are so cute. I love the detail of the owl peeking out from the inside of the card. And who wouldn't adore a polka dotted VW bug?
