4 Cards for Thursday

This week's Muse card by Laurie inspired me to make a couple of cards for my youngest daughter's teachers.  Her English teacher is retiring at the end of this school year, and she has taught both of my girls 8th grade English.  Far and away, she is both of their very favorite teacher.  I followed Laurie's sketch, and used the library card as a focal point, because the recipient is an English teacher.  I had a little date stamper from Smash, and I stamped June 14, 2013, which is their last day of school.  Because she is Scottish, I stamped a plaid background that looks like something I found on line.  I will also be entering this card at A Passion for Papertrey, where the challenge this week is to stamp your own background.

Sarah reminded me that her Math teacher, who is also her Advisory teacher is also retiring.  So, I pulled out some Doodlebug Take Note papers, and made a variation more suitable for a math teacher.

Here they are together.

My next card is just a tiny bit of a card (3" by 3"), and it is for this week's ColourQ cQc #188, CAS-ual Fridays CFC100--polka dots, square card, birthday, and One Layer Wednesday--Card Size to make a 3 inch square card.  All that in just one tiny card.  I used Sketched Shapes and a sentiment from Tag-Its.

Here you can see how small this card really is:

Last I have a card for this week's Simon Says.....Things with Wings challenge.  I finally used my Hero Arts Antique Engravings set, which I had to have about a year ago, but didn't ink it up until today.  Fortunately, I do not need this card, but like to have a stash of sympathy cards around, just in case.

That's it for me today.  It's too late to type up all the supplies, but let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for Visiting

  1. Sensational once again, Joyce! Your MUSE cards are really fun and unique! You constantly inspire me.

(I saw the awesome GGB card that Kim made using the dies you sent her and I had never seen that die used on a card before. I was tickled to hear that she got it from you! It is such great serendipity that I used that image on your birthday card!)

  4. Your retirement cards are beautifully designed ... I especially like the plaid background you stamped. Could you tell me if you used the Woven Plaid stamp by DRS Stamps?

I also really like your Sketched Shapes card. The design is great and the ink colors are beautiful together.

    1. Hi Rita--I can't find an email address for you, so I will reply to your question here. The widest stripe in the plaid is SU Cherry Cobbler and uses a stamp from Waltzingmouse Pic-Nic Patterns. The green stripes are stamped in SU Garden Green and uses a stamp from Waltzingmouse Off Beat Backgrounds. The yellow is PTI Harvest Gold ink stamped with PTI Background Basics Super Stripes. Hope that helps.

  5. Joyce these are all so fabulous! I am in love with your plaid background, it goes so well with your teacher card. So sweet to take the time to make these cards for retiring teachers. I see something very familiar on your first card, that ruler ribbon, maybe??? Thank you again for sharing it with me. Your mini happy birthday is just too darn sweet. I love the colors and here is that stamp set again! Your sympathy card is so beautiful and I really love those butterflies over the script, very classy. Love them all!
