I struggled through several failed ideas before finally settling on this card for this week's ColourQ cQc #185. I love all of these colors, but could not get them to work together. My design is inspired by this card by Christina shown during the latest PTI release. I used the techniques shown in this week's Make it Monday #112: Embossed Alpha Die Cuts. I die cut the word 'birthday' from Royal Velvet card stock, stamped with the coordinating stamp in versamark, and heat embossed with clear. To make the word stand out more, I glued three die cut layers together, and also stamped the card in Royal Velvet and adhered the die cuts offset just a bit. I used Watercolor Wonder for the stripes on the left side, and will be submitting this card to The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is birthday, so I will link up there, as well.
When I saw the colors for this week's Color Throwdown CTD238, I immediately thought of school colors. One of my nieces will be graduating from Michigan next month, and so I used these colors to make her graduation card. Now, I just need to remember where this card is in a month. I was inspired by this card of Deanna's.

ReplyDeleteGreat cards Joyce. I love how you did the birthday die cut in the first one and love the sequins. Your second one is a great graduation card. Those grungy circles are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolor stripes on that great birthday card! It's gender neutral to boot!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, the birthday card is a winner. 3 layers makes it a standout for sure. Perfect for the watercolor challenge, too!
ReplyDeleteLove both of these cards, Joyce. YOU have the captured the challenges perfectly with your color-combos, stamps and impression plates :)
ReplyDeleteI like the CQC card Joyce - I find it so hard to do those, but I guess that's why it is a challenge - I think I really need to expand my ink collection. The second card is perfect for a new grad - has a neat energy & I know exactly what you mean about finding it when you need it in a month or so :)
ReplyDeleteSo smart to make a Wolverines card, she will just love her customized graduation card!! It's happy, yet sophisticated at the same time with the pinstripes. Loving all your sequins too ... they're hard to put down!!
