Waltzingmouse June Blog Party

Happy summer everyone.  I have a super quick card for this month's Waltzingmouse Blog Party, where the theme is Summertime Fun.  One of my very favorite things to do in the summer is see the fireworks on July 4th.  We always go to La Costa for their Independence Day party.  Great food, awesome fireworks and music, and nothing to prepare or clean up.  This year, my oldest will be away at a writing program on July 4th, so I will send her this card.

I used the new 1776 set for this card--it was so quick and easy to pull together a card using this set.  I look forward to playing with it some more.  For an Irish Lass, Claire sure captured everything anyone would need in this set.  I was sunk the moment I saw the Statue of Liberty stamp.

Enjoy the rest of the party.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone else's idea of summer fun.

Waltzingmouse April 2013 Blog Party

It's felt like spring in San Diego for some time now, so I am very happy with this month's blog party theme of Spring Flowers.  In contrast to last month theme, where I had no suitable stamps, I have three Waltzingmouse sets with flowers.  That is like an entire garden of flower stamps.

I chose to use Camellias, which is my newest Waltzingmouse set, and my latest love.  I stamped two of the Camellia flowers and some leaves onto some patterned paper from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss, and cut them out.  I used the Lil Inkers Instant Camera die to cut a frame from another sheet in that pad and nestled everything together.  I cut all the background sheets with Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangles, and impressed the back piece of the camera die with a woodgrain impression plate.

I won't keep you.  Enjoy the rest of the hop.  I am particularly interested to see what my friend Kim from Cupcakes, Cards, and Kim has done for this party.  I sent her the very same stamped images that I used, and I'm sure she will do something completely different with them.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Camellias, PTI Sending You
Paper:  PTI Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Simple Stories Vintage Bliss
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Other:  Lil Inkers:  Stitched Rectangles, Instant Camera Dies, PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate

Waltzingmouse March, 2013 Blog Party

Here it is already past the mid point of March, and I honestly do not know where all the time is going.  The theme for the Waltzingmouse Blog Party is 'luck' and I have to say that I was pretty stumped for a long time about what to do.  I finally came up with a card, and I can't think of when or why I would ever send a card like this...but it does fit the theme, so here goes....

I figured out that I could use the heart from Sewing Box Hugs to make a 4 leaf clover, and I masked part of the sentiment from my new Folk Art Medallion set, to come up with this very green card, I guess to celebrate someone who is lucky in love--or maybe to wish some lucky love to a love lorn friend--I seem to have quite a few of those lately.  I used some Alphabet dies from PTI to cut out the word 'lucky', and some alphabet stamps for the word 'in'.

I am also entering this card into the Celebrate the Negative challenge in the Moxie Fab world.

I am very eager to see what every one else did this month with the theme of luck.  Enjoy the rest of the hop.

Waltzingmouse February, 2013 Blog Party

I am here for the Waltzingmouse February blog party, where the theme is doily.  This was a tough one for me.  I am not a doily kind of gal.  But, I gave it a try.  When I think of doilies and other frilly type things, I think of romance.  Not really my thing.  Fortunately, I have a stack of doilies on hand, provided by some generous friends who have doily dies.

I used some images from Nordic Spring, and a sentiment from Compact Sentiments for my card.  It's not too frilly--just how I like it.

I was chatting with some crafty friends while I was making this card, and somehow got to remembering all the different types of black ink I have and never use.  So, I pulled out my Brilliance Lightning Black for this card, and remembered how much I love that ink.  The black is so soft and shimmery, with just a hint of green or gold or something else.  Not sure if that shows up in this picture.

Enjoy the rest of the hop.  I'm eager to see what every one else has made.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Nordic Spring, Compact Sentiments
Paper:  PTI White, Kraft
Ink:  SU Real Red, PTI Kraft, Brilliance Lightning Black
Other:  PTI Doily and Angled Label dies

Waltzingmouse January 2013 Blog Party

The theme for this month's Waltzingmouse Blog Party is "love and hearts and all that gushy stuff".  I have a very CAS card, since my Waltzingmouse stash is somewhat limited.  Less is more, right?

I used one of the large sentiments from Say it Loud, and then took one of the smaller sentiments that read 'and forever' and masked off the 'and' to put 'forever' on a little tiny tag.  Embossed, popped up and tied a ribbon around my center panel, and my card was done.

I won't keep you.  There will be so much to see at the Waltzingmouse party.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Say it Loud
Paper:  PTI White, Pure Poppy
Ink:  SU Real Red
Other:  PTI Tiny Tags Die and Picnic Plaid Impression Plate, May Arts Chevron Twill Ribbon

Waltzingmouse 2012 Holiday Card Exchange

I participated in the Waltzingmouse Holiday Card Exchange this year, for the second year.  It's such a fun way to meet someone from another part of the world, and also a great way to guarantee that I will receive a stunning hand made card!

This year I received a card from Karen.  She claims she is relatively new to card making, but I wouldn't have guessed that from this beauty she sent me.  This card has it all--layers, dimension, bling, snow, and felt.  How did she know how much I love snow men (even though I live at the beach)?

Karen was also sweet enough to include a little bag of crafty goodies, so I could make something of my own.  Isn't that just so nice?  Karen, if you are reading this--thanks again!

I sent a card to Maja all the way in Slovenia.  I was so excited to get her name, since I am always interested in meeting people from around the world--especially in places I have never been.  I just saw from Maja's blog post that my card was destroyed in transit.  How sad, and how unfair to Maja.  I will post the card here, so she can see what it was supposed to look like.  And, will send another card her way--this time wrapped in a waterproof envelope.  So sorry, Maja, but I will make it up to you.

If you need some holiday inspiration for next year, check out all the beautiful cards that were sent during this fun holiday card exchange.

Waltzingmouse October 2012 Blog Party

If it is the 17th of the month, then you know where to find me--partying with my Waltzingmouse friends (and dreaming of a vacation in Ireland).  This month, we had this super fun color palette to inspire us to think about Halloween.

In my opinion, Waltzingmouse has the best Halloween stamps around.  But, do I own any of them?  No, not yet, but, it doesn't matter when you have a friend like Kim from Cupcakes, Cards and Kim.  I don't want to spill the beans about our upcoming Four-of-a-Kind group post this Sunday, but let's just say that Kim had my back on this one.

Around our house, Halloween is all about the candy, so I made two different treat holders that will be perfect for my little tricksters.

One of the things Kim sent me was this black tulle netting.  I must admit that at first, I thought she had cut up her black lace stockings for me, and I was wondering what kind of Halloween shenanigans she was up to.  Anyway, I decided that the best way to use this was as a giant bow, Jeanne-style.

Here is what the treat holder looks like without the bow:

Here they are together:

That's it for me today.  Enjoy the rest of the hop.  I'm excited to see what everyone else has created as well.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Wanda's Pantry
Paper:  PTI Royal Velvet, Orange Zest, White, Black
Other:  PTI dies:  Favor it Box #3, Pillow Box, Photo Finishers, Limitless Layers Circles, PTI ribbon, Twine, black tulle netting

Waltzingmouse September 2012 Blog Party

It's time for the September Waltzingmouse blog party, which is all about fall.  I don't have any Waltzingmouse sets that are fall related, so I made do with fall colors and some images from French Country.  I followed this week's sketch challenge.

For some reason, the picture didn't turn out very well.  The colors are PTI Kraft, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Canyon Clay and Dark Chocolate.

Today is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, 5773.

Edited:  I followed this week's sketch, but then missed the linking deadline.  Oops.

Have you been to my blogaversary party yet?   Everyone is invited!  And, there are prizes.  Please click here.

Waltzingmouse July 2012 Blog Party

Earlier this month, when I saw My Island and North Shore, I felt like someone had come to my town, sat down and sketched these images.  The palm trees, lifeguard hut, raffia umbrellas, sufer dude--that is my town, and I knew I needed to get those stamp sets out of Ireland and back to Southern California where they belonged.

The theme of this month's Blog Party is The Great Outdoors, and what better set to showcase my outdoor world than the images in My Island.

My stamps made it to me in record time (of course), and I chose to use this week's WMSC106 challenge for my card.

An update (happy ending) on the stamp that went missing during the creation of last month's blog party card.  Thank you all for the many helpful suggestions on where that stamp could be hiding.  I tried all of them.  I did find that naughty stamp stuck to the back of a sheet of card stock, that had I had put in a folder and filed away.  So, for those of you who never believe in tidying up--YOU ARE RIGHT!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  WM My Island
Paper:  PTI Kraft, Rustic Cream, True Black
Ink:  PTI Fine Linen, Memento Black

Waltzingmouse June 2012 Blog Party

Isn't this picture just gorgeous?  This is our inspiration for this month's Waltzingmouse Blog Party.  I had ordered some new stamps from Waltzingmouse, and was stalking my mailbox, hoping they would get here in time to use for this challenge, and they did.  I chose to focus on the color scheme, and the theme of rectangles.  I had been eying Sewing Box Hugs for a long time, and finally took the plunge and ordered it.  I paper pieced the house, and used the two hearts as a background stamp.

A very sad thing happened in the making of this card.....It was supposed to say 'home sweet home', only the sentiment dashed from my desk, and is now somewhere in the ether.  Perhaps it got homesick, and flew back to Ireland.  I don't know.  All I know is that my brand new stamp set is missing the sentiment I wanted to use.  Very sad.  I hope it turns up--I've looked everywhere I can think of.  If you have any ideas, I'm all ears.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Sewing Box Hugs
Paper:  PTI Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Smokey Shadow, Aqua Mist polka dots
Other:  PTI:  Tiny Tags Die, Striped IP, Nesties, bitty dot ribbon

Waltzingmouse May 2012 Blog Party

The theme this month for the Waltzingmouse Blog Party is felt and cozy fabrics.  I made a felt flower and tried to create a background paper that looked like a cozy blanket, right down to the crazy stitching around the edges.  I used Off Beat Backgrounds and Pic-Nic Patterns to create my plaid, and the stitching stamp in Off Beat Backgrounds to create the faux stitched edge.  If I had a sewing machine, this is probably what my stitches would look like.

Enjoy the rest of the party.  I'm looking forward to seeing what every one else has created.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse:  Off Beat Backgrounds, Pic-Nic Patterns, Compact Sentiments, Market Street Bit of Burlap
Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream, Kraft
Ink:  PTI:  Autumn Rose, Simply Chartreuse, Winter Wisteria, SU Crumb Cake
Other:  PTI Notched Flower die, button, twine
