Warmest Birthday Wishes

Hello friends.  I am participating in the challenge this week at Color Hues where we are honoring and remembering our friend, Lindsey, who recently lost her battle with cancer.  I never had the privilege of meeting Lindsey in person, but we were online friends for a number of years.  We were on the DT of The 25 Days of Christmas Tags together, and I never could see a cat or book themed stamp set without thinking of Lindsey.

I chose to CASE a card of Lindsey's and decided on this card from a recent blog post of hers.  I knew I wanted to make a clean and simple card, just like Lindsey's, and wanted to have a cat sitting in a chair reading a book.

Lindsey's Card

I used Sunny Vibes stamps from MFT, and put my cat reading a book at the beach.  I chose this stamp set in particular because it is one that Lindsey and I had discussed, and I remember making a card from it and sending it to Lindsey.

My CASE'd card

I am also entering this card at Just Us Girls #643: CASE a Designer (Lindsey M-P), AAA Birthday #40: Anything Birthday Goes, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes, and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Birthday.

2 Birthdays and a Thank You

Hello and happy Thursday.  Today, I am playing with the cat from MFT Sunny Vibes.  I think that cat may be my favorite stamp from that set.  (Until I decide to play with the mouse some more).  My design today was inspired by the sketch at MFT Sketch Challenge #508, and I am playing along at the MFT Birthday Project.  I am also playing along with The Paper Players #509: Pets, AAA Birthday #17: Animals  Critters, and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Animal Antics.

Now here's a card to make you hungry.  I was inspired by the sketch at Inky Paws #132, and the colors at Just Add Ink #524.  I am linking up at Retro Rubber #144: Anything Goes (stamps are Newtons Nook Summer Scoops 3 years old), and Water Cooler Wednesday #290: All About Occasions.

Last up is a thank you card--need to replenish my stash.  I used my new Hero Arts Bare Branched Tree and a few colors of Distress Oxide ink for this clean and simple (and practically one layer) thank you card.

Sunday Crafty Round Up

Hello and happy Sunday.  My first card is inspired by the sketch at MFT Sketches #500 and features images from Sunny Vibes, my latest favorite set.  I am also entering this card at AAA Cards #171: Along the Edge + Beach.

I really liked this week's MFT Sketches #500, so I used it also on my second card.  This card features this adorable Giraffe and his punny birthday sentiment.  I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday #196: no topping.

Next up is a card inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #383.  I used Avery Elle Beside the Sea stamps for this card.  I fell in love with those little beach cabanas, as they reminded me of where I used to swim with my family when I was a kid.  I made my beach using Copics free hand, and stenciled the clouds.  My three elements, in case it is not obvious from the card are the sun, the bird, and the pail.

Back to the beach with Hero Arts.  I created a surfing scene with a girl (not me!) and a dog surfing (not my dog).  Before you laugh too hard, I must tell you that I live in a beach town north of San Diego, and there are dog surfing competitions every summer at my beach.  I am entering this card at The Male Room #140: Sport and The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #165: D is for Dog.

Next up is the card I made at Summer School with MFT, where the first lesson is Visual Triangle.  I am also entering this card at Just Us Girls #547: Travel (by car) and  Seize the Birthday #196: no topping.

Last up for today is a wedding card, although I think it could also be used as an anniversary card.  Either way, it works for The Paper Players #502: Wedding/Anniversary.  I am also entering this card at A Blog Named Hero July: Embossing, as my sentiment is heat embossed in gold.

My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  I am here to share the results of my crafty weekend.  First up is a summer scene inspired by the sketch at MFT Wednesday Sketch #499, the photo inspiration at Fusion Summer and at Inspired by #134 and Simon Says Monday Challenge: A Day at the Beach.

Next up is this fun ferris wheel card.  My BFF Kim sent me this stamped image with the unicorn, and I added a dog and a cat from Lawn Fawn Critters in the Burbs to complete my whimsical scene.  I was inspired by the photo inspiration at Just Us Girls #546 (amusement park), Lawn Fawnatics #81: Summertime Fun (we always go to the fair in the summer), and The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #185: D is for Dog.

My next two cards are inspired by the challenges at Stay Crafty with Hero #12: Friendship and A Blog Named Hero: Embossing.  I heat embossed the sentiment on both of these cards.  I used houses and a few other small images from Welcome Neighbor as well as some branches images from last autumn's My Monthly Hero kit.

Does something on this next card look familiar to you?  Yes, I watch way too much news these days.  And, with everyone broadcasting out of their homes, I have gotten very used to seeing a talking head with a bookshelf background.  I thought that would be fun to replicate on a card.

This card was so fun to make.  I stamped the Hero Arts Bookcase Peekaboo on some scratch paper and then cut it out with the 1950's Television Die.  I colored in the portion shaped like the TV screen and tossed the rest.

The hardest decision I had to make for this card was my choice of News Anchor.  I picked this mini Tim Holtz dog, as he looks as befuddled as I often feel when I am watching the news.  Closed Captions took care of the sentiment, which conveys the message I want to send to all my friends who I miss.

I am also entering this card at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #185: D is for Dog.

My last two cards were inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #382 and the colors at Color Throwdown #603.  I am also entering at Seize the Birthday #195: No Toppings.

I could not decide which of my many tropical birds to use for this card, so I made another card with my runner up choice.
