Three Birthday Cards

I've got three cards today, and they are all birthday cards, and will be entered into the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday as well as The Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

My first card uses the Defined Watercolors technique from this week's Make it Monday #125.  I used Rosie Posie, water color painted with some distress inks and then stamped just the edges.  I have to say that Erin made it look a little easier than it was.  After my front panel was complete, I realized I forgot to leave room for a sentiment, so I cut a banner out of vellum for my sentiment.

I decided to use this week's Color Throwdown CTD251 colors for my CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#37 card.  I was trying to decide what I could use instead of hexagon, and came up with the Rounded Diamonds dies from Avery Elle.  I went back and forth and couldn't decide whether to go for the small ones or medium ones, and finally decided to just make two cards and ask which one you think is better?

I used a variety of Impression Plates to add some texture and interest to my die cuts, and raised them up with some very small dimensional adhesives.  I repositioned the sentiment a bit from the sketch--it just seemed to fit better where I put it.

What do you think--do you have a preference?

My Avery Elle Rounded Diamonds-a-Thon

Have you ever ordered stamps and dies that you were super excited about, stalked the mail man for days until they arrived, and then just let them sit?  No?  Really?  I'm the only one?  OK, then.

Today I am grateful for a challenge issued by the super talented JJ Bolton to create and link projects using Avery Elle Rounded Diamonds stamps and dies.  She designed these babies, and she wants to see what we are making with them.  Sounded reasonable to me, and there's a prize, too.  So, I got to work and had a bit of fun, too.

I started with a bit of casing for my first card, and was inspired by this card by Kasia.  I used SU Baja Breeze, Hero Arts Wet Cement, and PTI Royal Velvet inks.  I used just the stamps on this card.

Next up is a card using the stamps and dies together.  Inks are PTI:  Orange Zest, Hibiscus Burst and Limeade Ice, and the sentiment is from AE Framed Fonts.  I used the Aida Impression plate on the front panel, and some Lawn Fawn twine that Kim was nice enough to send me.

I made a couple of Father's Day cards, too.  This next card uses just the stamps again in Blueberry Sky, Scarlet Jewel and Terracotta Tile.  The sentiment is from PTI Boutique Borders and so is the Woodgrain Impression Plate.

My second Father's Day card uses only the die and a rainbow of paper colors:  Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart, Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides.

My last card is for my youngest daughter's 8th grade graduation, and uses one  of her favorite owls from There She Goes You're a Hoot and a PTI sentiment.  Just the dies on this card, and a mixture of her favorite colors.

That's it for me today.  A big thanks to JJ for giving me the kick in the pants that I needed to start getting inky with my Rounded Diamonds.  Now, back to the real world of school pickups and basketball games.
