Happy Birthday and Father's Day

Hello...I made this fun card for the Lawn Fawnatics #78:  Create a Scene challenge, Addicted to Stamps and More #392: Make Your Mark, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Make Your Own Background, and Inkspirational #214: Funny Sentiment (I hand wrote the punny part '2 ewe').

Next is a birthday card featuring my very favorite bridge, the Marvelous Bridge die from Memory Box, and I am entering this card at Outside the Box #62: Birthday, AAA Cards #166: Birthday Bash and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Make Your Own Background.

My last card for today is inspired by the colors at CAS Colours & Sketches #373Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Masculine, and Use Your Stuff #399: Father's Day.

CASology Week #354...Fog

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is FOG.

I immediately thought of all that lovely cool fog in San Francisco, and decided to see if I could replicate that on a card.  I sponged some grey clouds on a piece of card stock, added a die cut bridge (Golden Gate Bridge, in my mind) and then covered the panel with vellum to soften the look and add to the overall foggy scene.

Now it's your turn.  How does FOG inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the our Guest Designer  and the CASology design team.  Our sponsor this week is STAMPlorations.

Tag You're It #36...Reminder

Hello and happy Friday.  You still have time to play along with us at Tag You're It #36.  I am the inspiration this week, and here is my inspiration tag.

I CASEd myself and made a tag inspired my my first tag.

This time I focused on the sponged ink background, the use of die cuts, and, of course, Santa in the sky.

I hope you will play along with us.  You have another week.

Want more inspiration?  Head over to the Tag You're It blog to see more inspiration from our team of designers and our guest designer, Tracy MacDonald.

Some Cards and a Puppy

It seems like it's been forever since I posted anything or even made anything.  I know I am terribly behind in visiting all of my friends in blogland.  I do have a good excuse--besides the usual end of summer, getting kids ready for school, in-laws visiting--we got a puppy!

He is a 6 month old German Shepard-Lab mix that we got from a rescue shelter.  We named him Sherlock and he has been keeping us very busy.  We got him 2 weeks ago, and our house hasn't been the same since.  I was the one who didn't want a dog for the longest time, but I must admit that he is a real sweetheart.

He follows me all around the house, especially when everyone else is out at school or work.  I am training him to be my crafting buddy.  Today, he sat and slept by the front door for a long time.  He was either waiting for the UPS guy to deliver my PTI package, or just waiting for the girls to get home from school.

On to the cards.....

I had an idea to make an ombre sort of sky, and pulled out all my yellowish and orangeish Distress Inks.  I sponged them within a mask I created with a rectangle die, and adhered a die cut Memory Box Marvelous Bridge over the inked rectangle.  I am entering this card into the Tuesday Trigger Honoring Ombre challenge.

I got two new dies last week, and made a quick little note card set with them.  I used the PTI Wonderful Words Thank You die on some thin Michael's patterned paper.  I made two note cards with the die cut and 2 with the negative die cut.  Then, I lined all four envelopes with the same paper.  It was very quick and easy, and only used 1 12x12 sheet of patterned paper, one piece of white card stock and 4 envelopes.  I am thinking I will use some of the patterned paper scraps to make a belly band and have this set on hand in case I need a little last minute gift.  This was so easy to make and a great way to use up some of those 12x12 sheets I have been storing forever.  I think I'll make some more.
