I've got 2 birthday cards to share today. First up is my feminine card. I used a NBUS Stamploration Bold Florals Stencil and sponged several colors of Distress ink. Then I cut my panel (to get rid of the unfortunate smudge) and made a place for my sentiment. I was very pleased with how the flowers turned out, which was just as I imagined. I sponged the outer part of the petals with Spun Sugar and the inner part with Worn Lipstick.
I am linking this card up at Just Us Girls #275, Simon Says Monday Inky Background Challenge, Stamplorations Stamps & Inks Challenge and the Stamplorations Anything Goes Challenge.
Next up is a masculine birthday card--always good to have those in my stash. I used Lil Inkers Long and Stitched Rectangles as well as PTI Small Sketched Stars. Both are NBUS for me.
I am linking this card up at Colour Me Striking #54 as well as Simon Says Wednesday It's a Guy Thing.
Finally, would like to remind everyone of the NBUS challenge going on this week at both CASology and Darnell's Playhouse. If you've got something NBUS on your clean and simple card, please head over to CASology and link up. And, you can link up any style of card using NBUS over at Darnell's Playhouse.
Thanks for Visiting
Wow wow wow is your floral card ever pretty Joyce! And the second...love the stars!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Joyce ... the softly sponged blooms and leaves are just lovely! Stars and stripes ... bold, cool, fabulous! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what a pretty card!! Love the colors of those blooms! Thanks for joining us this week at Just Us Girls!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards. Love the colors on the blossoms. Isn't is fabulous when you can link a card for several challenges?
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the star die with the inlaid technique!! The "Clean and Simple/no fuss, no muss" approach is spot on! Your craftsmanship is awesome, Joyce! Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “It’s a Guy Thing” Challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove those flowers, Joyce. I think it's hard to stencil something like that and not get a smudge, or mixed colors. I like how you "saved" it. The other card is so very patriotic, perfect for a guy.
ReplyDeleteI love the inking on the flowers in the first card, so pretty and I love that patriotic birthday card!
ReplyDeleteLove the floral!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful floral design--the watercolor effect looks gorgeous! And I love those stars with the sentiment font--perfect together!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!! That is how I would describe your fist card - that stenciled flower is gorgeous and your stenciling looks so flawless!! As for your manly card - anyone would feel like a star to get a card as great as that!!!! Very well done, very glad I stopped by today!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you placed your sentiment in the floral catd Joyce, stunning colours too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Joyce! Your inking/sponging on the first one is amazing (great save!) and those die-cut stars on the second are awesome!

ReplyDeleteOh what fabulous floral design and your red, white and blue with the stitching is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBest of the New Year.

OOooo! I love the boldness of that first card. The sponging turned out wonderfully! And the second is just perfect for a man's birthday - or for the fourth of July. Hmmmm now my wheels are turning!
ReplyDeleteI would say the smudge worked in your favor - I love the card.
ReplyDeleteJoyce, both of your cards are stunning! The inlaid stars are absolutely flawless!
ReplyDeleteA great selection of birthday cards, both fabulous in their own right. Love how the greeting is in the cut out for the feminine card.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stenciling Joyce! Wowsers! Your guy card could not be any more perfect!
ReplyDeleteJoyce...I love both of your cards but your first card is stunning. Your stenciled flowers are just so perfect and your shading is just amazing...I think I need a lesson, please. Your red white and blue card is so fun and I love the inlaid stars, so fun.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are really lovely. The flowers are so pretty, but it's the bold stars that caught my attention! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow !! I am totally smitten with ur first card, fab sponging :)
ReplyDeleteYour first card is beautiful and so striking. Smudging huh? So annoying, glad you were able to overcome it.
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards, Joyce! You've produced two excellent inspirations for both sexes. Gosh, we should really try to do one for each more often when we make cards, huh? I said that to myself when I made a male and female version of a card ONCE last year. You can see how well I followed through on that thought!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for letting me play with you at CASology this week!! It's been such fun! I really appreciate the reminder to your readers that they can link to my challenge, as well. It seems straight-forward, but when I'm visiting the entries as GD, I'm seeing some that only linked to CASology, so I'm reminding them in my comment. I'm not really comfortable doing that, but I don't want them to miss out on a chance for a prize when it follows that their cards should be linked to both. Anyway, thank you! Have a great day!! Hugs, Darnell
Sweet cards! Love the shading on the flowers from the stencils. The stripey card is cool! Thanks for playing along with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly nailed those hibiscus blooms (if that's what they are). Love how you split the panel for the sentiment. Thanks for joining us this month at STAMPlorations, Joyce.
ReplyDeleteYour stenciled flowers are gorgeous, Joyce!! Don't you love it when the crafty goodies cooperate and your design comes out just how you imagined? Your stars and stripes birthday card is really cool too. Would make an awesome 4th of July card!
ReplyDeleteYour sponging on that first card is AMAZING! Wow. Love the gradiation in color. And you know I'm a sucker for things red, white, and blue. I have those Sketched Stars too but have never used them. Thanks for the reminder that I even had them.
