My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  I've been crafty again, so let's get right to it.

First up is this very fun birthday card, inspired by the sketch at MFT Sketch Challenge #525.  I used hippos and birds from MFT Happy Hippos and another bird from Birthday Bear & Friends.  I am also entering this card at CAS on Friday #197: Animals, Use Your Stuff #414: Out with the Old (I've had these animal birthday sets from MFT for a long time, and still love them), and Seize the Birthday #206 (no twist).  Because I think this card would be perfect for a little boy, I am entering it at the Male Room #146: Animals and WWC305: Anything Goes Masculine Twist.

I don't know how it happened, but I have run out of new home cards.  I made a matching pair, inspired by a design I used years ago.  This first card will be headed to my niece tomorrow.

This card is almost exactly the same, except for the blended background and placement of clouds.

I will be entering both of these cards at Use Your Stuff #414: Out with the Old (I used an old die called Home Scape from Sugar Pea) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Make Your Own Background.

My next card is another for my stash of new home cards.  I was inspired by the challenge at Less is More #435: In a Row to pull out a new-to-me Scene It More from Clearly Besotted.

I was so excited to see the new challenge at Festive Friday #0076: Chinese New Year.  I had the perfect stamp set from Mama Elephant Ni Hao.  My younger daughter was supposed to be in Shanghai this semester, but it was canceled by covid.  I will still give her this card, and we will celebrate Chines New Year here in California.  The elements of the challenge I used on my card are red, gold and dragon.

I made 2 versions of the card, as I could not decide which parts should be red or white.

I am also entering these cards at WWC305: Anything Goes Masculine Twist.

I had so much fun playing with my newest stamps from Newton's Nook, Paw-some Birthday.  I used the colors from Inky Paws Challenge #140 and the sketch from The Paper Players #525.

I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday #206 (no twist), and because I think this card would be perfect for a little boy, I am entering it at the Male Room #146: Animals and WWC305: Anything Goes Masculine Twist.

Switching gears for a moment, I have a few holiday cards to post.  I am entering both of these holiday cards at the new MFT Slimline Challenge, because I used MFT Delightful Deer dies.    I am also entering these cards at Addicted to Stamps and More #397: Christmas and Retro Rubber #150: Winter Wonderland (my sentiment stamp is at least 1 year old, and the deer and birds are several years old).

And, my last card today is this multi-colored village on a snowy night.  I am entering this card at Just Us Girls #568 (inspired by the snowy night in the village), Addicted to Stamps and More #397: Christmas, Addicted to CAS #189: Snow, and Kat Scrappiness January Winter Challenge.

Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  We had a very quiet weekend, staying home to avoid the crowds at the beach.

My first card is inspired by the following challenges:  Melissa's Fab Friday Feature to make a Hello project, Just Us Girls #543: Rainbow, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Bright and Cheerful, and Retro Rubber #138: Anything Goes.  I used Up and Away stamps and dies by PTI, and they must be at least 10 years old.

My next card is inspired by all of the current challenges at MFT:  The Birthday Project, MFT Sketch Challenge #496, and MFT Color Challenge #144.  I am also playing along at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Bright and Cheerful, Retro Rubber #138: Anything Goes (my Hippo stamps are at least 4 years old) and Seize the Birthday #194: No Topping.

The following 3 cards were all initiated by the challenge at AAA Cards #169:  Made in Minutes.  I started looking through my Hero Arts stamps, so I could also also play along at Stay Crafty with Hero #11: One Layer Cards and quickly made this trio of cards.  As all my stamps are quite old, all between 5 and 9 years, I'd guess, I'll be playing along at Retro Rubber #138: Anything Goes.  In fact, every single card I am posting today is made with stamps I've had in my stash for a long time.  It feels really good  to pull out these old friends to play.

This card was so quick to make--two stamps and just a touch of masking to keep it one layer.

The next two cards involve the twist of Christmas in July.  This sweater-wearing moose is one of my favorite images, and I was able to quickly make this card with just a bit of masking and some quick coloring.

This next card is also an old favorite that hasn't seen ink for a really long time.  It was so quick to make as the Winter Trees cling stamp is so large and detailed.

MFT Deep Dive + 2

Hello and happy Father's Day.  Today, I pulled out some MFT stamps and played along with some of their challenges.

First up is a card with these adorable mice, and I was inspired by the MFT Sketch #494, the MFT Color #143 and the MFT Birthday Project challenges.  (I think my lights were all wrong, because there are some crazy shadows on this photo--sorry about that).  I rotated the sketch 90 degrees, then cut an oval out of my front panel and set it back inside, and also used score lines on the sides of my oval...there is so much going on with my focal point, I wanted the other elements of the sketch to be more subtle.

Another birthday party on this next card, this one starring MFT Birthday Bear and his big pile of gifts.  I am entering this card at the MFT Color #143 and the MFT Birthday Project challenges, as well as Addicted to Stamps and More #394: Clean and Simple.

My little hippo and little bear got together for a small birthday party in the corner of my next card.  They invited their little birdie friend to join in...who says 3's a crowd?  I did a little bit of masking on my bear, to get the balloon to come from behind.  I am entering this card at the MFT Birthday Project challenges, AAA Cards #168: One Corner & Optional Twist Masking, and CAS Colours & Sketches #375.

My last birthday party features cocktails, and it is for my daughter who is turning 21 next month.  She is really hoping to be able to go to a bar and order a cocktail on her birthday....if we are still stuck at home, this card will be her birthday cocktail party.  I am also entering this card at the MFT Color #143 and the MFT Birthday Project challenges.

Enough with birthdays, my next card is inspired by the challenge at Less is More #422: Solid and Outline.  I used PTI Fresh Bouquet stamps, which have an outline and a filler to make my card.  I am also playing along at The Paper Players #496: Clean and Simple Thank You.

I have a friend whose pup recently had some pretty major surgery.  I made this card for my dog Sherlock to send her to wish her a speedy recovery.  I was inspired by the sketch at Retro Rubber #137.
