With Heartfelt Sympathy and Happy Birthday

Hello and happy Saturday.  I'm playing along with several challenges today with 2 different cards.

First up is a card inspired by the video at Make it Monday #312: Framing Sentiments and Images.

I used some new PTI stamps --Penned Elegance and Lilies of the Valley, as well as a die from several layers of Embroidered Borders.  Before stacking and adhering the border die cuts, I dry embossed just the top layer with a woodgrain embossing plate.  I am entering this card at Less is More #365, where the challenge is to use dry embossing for only a small area around your focal point.  I am also entering this card at Just Add Ink #397: Just add "H"  My "H" is 'heartfelt.

My next card is inspired by a new PTI challenge--Transformation Tuesday.  I chose to remake this card I have had in my stash forever.  I never use it because the entire front is clear, so no place to write a message.  I made this card years ago for a Make it Monday challenge to use clear card stock, but was not really thinking about how impractical it would be.

Here is my original card:

Original Card
To transform this card, I remade it without using any clear card stock.  I used the same stamp set, Asian Fusion--one of my oldest and most favorite sets, same sentiment and same color scheme.

Here is my transformed card:

I am happy with how this card turned out.  I feel like it is a more practical and updated design, yet it is possible to see how it was inspired by the original card.  Rather than a vertical panel of kraft card stock, I substituted one of the stamped images in the set, stamped horizontally twice in kraft.  I stamped that on the base of the card, then stamped everything else on a separate panel, which I then attached with foam tape.

I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday, without toppings.

Anniversary Challenges

Quick post for 2 of the PTI Anniversary Challenges.

Day 2--Multiply challenge--I used Quilted Summer and some Doodlebug paper to use repeated triangles to make a pattern.

Day 3---Favorite Floral--I used the hibiscus from Some Like it Hot.  Inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #212.

Day 5--Transformation.  I made a card years ago, for a Make it Monday challenge to use acetate. My design was very impractical, as there was really no way to write inside the card, given the way I designed my card.  So, for this challenge, I used the same stamp set, Asian Fusion and the same color scheme, but a much more practical card.

Here are both cards side by side.  New card on right.

Make it Monday #107, Retro Sketches #54 & Dynamic Duos #43

I have a card for this week's Retro Sketches rs#54, using the colors from this week's Dynamic Duos DD#43.   And, of course, its got green, so I will submit to this week's Simon Says Stamp Bit O Green challenge.

I am really loving my Irresistibly Ikat stamps.   I used the Aida impression plate on my stamped panel for this card, and love the look of those two together.

This week's Make it Monday #107 has Nicole showing us how to work with clear card stock, as well as tips for copic coloring.  My card with clear card stock proved to be difficult to photograph, so please ignore the reflection of the camera.  I chose to go with a stamped panel on the left side of the card, and stamped my sentiment on the inside.  It is based on something I saw a long time ago on Damask Love, and I don't have the actual post saved.  I pulled out Asian Gardens for this card.  I use the sentiments in that set all the time, but I rarely pull it out for the images.  I embossed the vase in black, cut it out, and popped it up with dimensional adhesive.  I used White Ranger Enamel Accents for the flower centers.

Here is a view of the inside.

After I made this card, I realized that any message I wrote would need to be on the back...

I wanted to try out some Copic coloring, while the video was fresh in my mind, so I made one more card.
