Make it Monday #90

During this week's Make it Monday #90:  Creating Focal Point Sentiments with Stamps and Dies, Betsy Veldman showed us how to combine sentiment sets with alphabet dies.

I made two cards with this technique.  The first is a holiday card, that will be sent to Vera Yates for her Caring Hearts Card Drive.  I selectively inked just the "Merry &" from "Merry & Bright" and used my PTI Block Alphabet dies to spell the word 'bright' in Ocean Tides, Scarlet Jewel and Aqua Mist"   I used Paper Glaze to get a bit of sheen on the colored lights.

The idea for this next card came to me during spin class.  I used a sentiment from Paper Smooches Good Gab.  I stamped the sunburst from Hello Sunshine so that all the rays would be coming out of the middle of the 'O' in 'color'.   I love this sentiment, but honestly do not know what one does with this sort of card.  Any ideas?

This is such a fun and easy technique, and I think I'll be using it again sometime.

  3. Nice job on both cards - I love the color & design of the second one - congrats on the FB shout-out from Nichole!!
I think sentiments like this are a bit challenging, but can be used for a thank you, thinking about you or even a birthday card for the right person.

  5. Joyce, these are both fantastic!! LOVE, LOVE your second card with the sunburst coming from the "O" ... I've seen a lot of great cards with this stamp and now I'll have to add yours to the list.

It's so funny you mention what to do with the sentiment. I see this sentiment a lot and always think the same thing! It would definitely have to be the right person.

  6. WOW! These are wonderful. I LOVE the sunburst coming out of the "O". Every time I see that sentiment I think I could only use it on a card for my husband or daughters.

My favorite is the 2nd card. Love the layout and how you colored the alphbet dies. Perhaps you can stick it in one of your girls' lunch bags or your husband's briefcase.
