My Background Basics Circles set arrived in the mail today--it is the set I chose when I was the randomly chosen winner in the December PTI Blog hop--and I immediately broke it open and started to play. Now, I know I should have chosen one of the many beautiful color schemes given to us this morning as part of Papertrey's 5th Anniversary celebration and made another card to enter that challenge.
But a card popped into my head for this week's One Layer Wednesday, OLW#78, Circles, Circles Everywhere, and so I had to go with that. I used Aqua as my main (and only color) for this week's Less is More Week #53 challenge "Aqua".
After many botched attempts, generating lots of scrap paper, I was finally able to get my stamping and die cutting all to work together for this card. It's really true that these one layer cards leave no room for error and no place to hide mistakes. Good thing I was able to remind myself that "it's only paper".
Here is what it looks like opened up:
Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps: Background Basics: Circles, Heart Prints
Paper: White
Other: Heart die
Thanks for Visiting
It looks amazing Joyce... worth all that scrap paper!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us and we hope to see you again next time.

Oh Joyce, this is SO lovely! I love the layout and the white space really lets the rest of the design shine! LOVE the cut-out heart! I'm going to have to try something like this!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Perfect for both challenges!
ReplyDeleteA real eye-catcher. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteMmm this set is on my wish list too, love how you've used it on your card Joyce.

Beautiful! I love your OLW cards! Great use of your circles!
ReplyDeleteYay your Circles came!!! Isn't it an awesome set? Your first card is gorgeous and you nailed it. You should include your Clean & Simple class badge on this post. Day 8 Lisa Spangler covered this technique and you did an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, this is absolutely wonderful. It's perfect for the challenges, and it is beautifully done. Perfect CAS!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! The background circles look fantastic! And your cutout is just perfect:)
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun! I'm so glad you got your stamp set in the mail! I love how you used the circles stamp and made the little heart window! And, yes. You totally busted me on calling out sick to play with PTI! First I called out Tuesday, and there were no card contests! UGH! So, I made a MIM, but had to call out again yesterday so I could play along! :) Back to work today though. Maybe I can squeeze in a quick one when I get home, but I cannot take a nice pic at night, indoors to save my life!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous Joyce and this one is no exception! I love the circles 'ribbon' and aperture works beautifully with it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous!
