Interactive Gnome and Pet Sympathy

Hello and happy Sunday.  I made a fun card using my latest My Monthly Hero kit.  I just love those little gnomes.  The challenge at Stay Crafty With Hero #25 asks for an interactive card.  Since I had already done a shaker, I wanted to do something else.

I carefully cut the door in my gnome's little tree house to allow it to open, and put a little gnome inside.

Unfortunately, I found myself needing a pet sympathy card at short notice, so I whipped up this CAS card very quickly.  I inked up Picket Fence Stella Puppy, embossed the large dog image, and was done in no time.  I am entering this card at Perfectly CAS #17: Embossing, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss it, and WWC320: Occasions (death of pet).

Time Out #192...Ice Cream

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by the word HUNGRY.  There is one thing that I am always hungry for, and that is ice cream.  It doesn't matter how full I am with other food, there is always room for ice cream.  I used Treat Yourself stamps from our sponsor, Lawn Fawn  to make a fun pyramid of ice cream.  I used some pastel colors to brighten up my card, but I must admit that in real life, I only eat ice cream that is some shade of brown.

So, how are you inspired by HUNGRY?  Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Claire Apostolof and the Time Out Design Team.  Lawn Fawn is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Three Cards for Wednesday

Hello and happy Wednesday.  My first card today is a sweet little shaker card using some of the fun stamps and dies in the latest My Monthly Hero kit, and is inspired by several challenges: The sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches #428, Stay Craft with Hero #25: Interactive (shaker card), Just Us Girls #592: Recycle (my shaker is made with a piece of acetate from an old PTI stamp packaging), and Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

Next up is a card using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown #651, and is also inspired by the challenge at A Blog Named Hero to use repetition.  I pulled out this older Hero Arts birthday background stamp that repeats several birthday messages across the entire card front.  I used white heat embossing and then sponged and blended my colors.  I am entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It and Addicted to Stamps and More #409: Any Occasion.

Last up for today is a card inspired by the challenge at Poppystamps #82: Just Add Water.  I used water colors to loosely draw a little pond using Spring Rain reinker drops, a water brush, and then some WOS for shimmer.  I then added a big family of Whittle Ducks, swimming off to have an adventure.  I am also entering this card at  Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

My Crafty Weekend

Hello crafty friends.  Let's start at the beach today, with sunshine and sparkling blue waters.  I used my new PTI Better at the Beach stamps and dies for this first card, and I am playing along with The Great Cover-Up challenge to use pigment inks.  I am also linking this card up at Addicted to Stamps and More #409: Any Occasion (birthday) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Hello Sunshine.

While I had my stamps out, I stamped another fun summer scene.  This scene reminds me of the park near my house.

I am entering this card at CAS on Sunday #209: Sunshine and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Hello Sunshine.

I went way, way back into my PTI time machine to put together this next card, inspired by the sketch at  What Do I Do With This to make a birthday card, the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #493, AAA Birthday #27: Use an embossing folder (large polka dots), Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Fun and Quirky, and  Addicted to Stamps and More #409: Any Occasion (birthday).

And, last up for today, I am playing along with numerous challenges that have a Christmas in July theme:  Less is More #447, Addicted to CAS #201, Just Add Ink #562: Photo Inspiration (green and red holiday theme), The Male Room #152, ABC Christmas 'O' is for Off to One Side and Shopping Our Stash #449.

CASology Week #393...Park

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is PARK.

There are so many ways to go with this cue word...I was thinking of all the wonderful and fun things you can do at a park, what you see at a park, and even some of the challenges of parking a car.  But my mind was drawn to the greatest of all parks (in my opinion)--Central Park in New York City.  It also helped that I have this old Mama Elephant Central Park stamp set that was just begging for some ink.

There are so many things on can do at Central Park, but one of the fun things to do as a tourist is to take a horse and buggy ride around the park.  I did that many years ago, when we took our two young girls to New York on vacation.

I used the city skyline stamp to create a very faint, far away looking skyline, and the skyline die to create a closer up skyline.  I fussy cut the horse and buggy to put in the foreground of my scene.

Now it's your turn.  How does PARK inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our design team.

Independence Day

Hello, happy July 4th and happy Sunday.  I've got several cards I've been working on the past few days, and thought I'd post them before baking the cookies I will bring to a party later today.

First up is a card that is so appropriate for today, and it will be going to a special friend who will be becoming an American citizen very soon.  I am so excited for her, and hope that it can happen before the next election.  I am entering this card at the following challenges:  Color Hues #21: Red & Blue, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Red, White and/or Blue, The Paper Players #548: Stars and/or Stripes, and Just Add Ink #541: Just Add a Shaker.

I was inspired by the challenge at Melissa's Fab Friday: Create an Intricate card, to pull out this intricate Winter Floral Cover Plate to make a Christmas card.  Because the die is so intricate, I kept the rest of the card very simple, to end up with a card that is intricate, yet CAS.  I am also entering this card at Addicted to CAS #201: Christmas and CAS Christmas July Challenge: Poinsettia (thanks, Elizabeth).

I used the sketch at Fusion-Summer Dreamin and the PTI Challenge to Create a Floral Happy Birthday Card to create my next card.  I pulled out The Sweet Life stamps, which haven't seen ink in so very long, and it was fun to use something I have had for so long.  I am also entering this card at AAA Birthday #26: Flowers, and Addicted to Stamps and More #408: Birthdays.

I loved the sketch at this week's Freshly Made Sketches #492, and was really stretched trying to make a square card.  I had an older Altenew stamp set out on my desk (Beautiful Day), and one of the images that I had never used really caught my eye, so that is what I started with.  After coloring and fussy cutting those flowers, I adhered them to some die cuts from an older PTI Notebook die, layering a piece of striped vellum over Melon Berry card stock.  I still felt the card needed something, so added some score marks.  I am also entering this card at The Flower Challenge #58: Spots or Stripes, and WWC319: Feminine.

Last up for today is this fun underwater scene, using Avery Elle Underwater Background Builder.  I was inspired by rotating the sketch from AAA Cards #193 and used the optional 'critter' as my fish and seahorse.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

I am also entering the first four cards in this post at Just Us Girls #591: Script.
