Happy Little Stampers Case The Designer February 2015...Happy Birthday

Hello and happy February.  I'm here to post a card for Happy Little Stampers Case the Designer challenge.

This month, our inspiration is provided by the very talented Shona Chambers. Just take a look at the beautiful card Shona made to inspire us.

I was inspired by Shona's fun and colorful background and how she masked off her central focal point.

I also loved her elephant, and was lucky enough to have my own elephant stamp.  I used Copic markers to color in my focal point as well as my background images.

After I was done masking, stamping and coloring, I added some texture to my card front with the Picnic Plaid Impression Plate from PTI.

Our challenge will run for the entire month of February.  I hope you will play along.  Please head over to the Happy Little Stampers Case the Designers blog to see more inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Happy Little Stampers Case The Designer January 2015...thanks

Hello and happy new year.  At the time of this posting, it is officially 2016 in Australia!  We've still got a few hours to go here in San Diego before we offically say good bye to 2015.

I'm here to post a card for a new challenge from Happy Little Stampers called 'Case the Designer'. It replaces the Happy Little Stampers Sketch Challenge--which was so 2015. New year...new challenge.

The first designer that we are challenging you to CASE is none other than our fearless leader, Kylie Purtell.  Just take a look at the beautiful card Kylie made to inspire us.

I loved Kylie's colorful background, and I assume she worked this magic with some of her famous Brushos, which I do not have.  I used several colors of Distress ink, blended them together and then randomly spattered water droplets.

Once everything was dry, I stamped a sentiment along with a small image, added some texture, cut my panel down to size and rounded the corners and adhered it to my card front with foam tape.

In addition to Kylie's technique, I was inspired by her colors and also her design.

Our challenge will run for the entire month of January.  I hope you will play along.  Please head over to the Happy Little Stampers Case the Designers blog to see more inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Thanks for Visiting

Happy Little Stampers Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Happy Little Stampers Second Release Blog Hop.  If you are hopping in order, you should have come to me from Loll Thompson.

Take a look at all the new stamps from Happy Little Stampers.

I was lucky enough to get to play with Whimsical Friends, and I have 4 cards to show you.  This stamp set is so fun to play with, and the images are just adorable.

I started by repeatedly stamping the elephant image across the bottom of my card.  I used WPlus9 Fairy Dust ink for all the images except the one I colored.  I used Copics to color in one elephant as well as his bird friend perched on his back.  I added a pattern to the blanket on the elephant's back.

I used a sentiment from Whimsical Friends as well as most of the birds for my next card, again coloring with Copics.

The images in this set are perfect for paper piecing, too.  I used some scraps from an old Echo Park paper pad.

Last up, I wanted to show how these images would work stamped as a background.  I randomly stamped several of the images on to a piece of card stock, and then merely scribbled a bit of color using Distress markers.

I added a sentiment heat embossed in white on a stitched flag die cut.

That's it for me.  Your next stop on the hop is Gloria Lee.  If you get lost, you can always return to the Happy Little Stampers blog.  Please leave a comment here and on all the other blogs in the blog hop for a chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate to the Happy Little Stampers store.

Happy Hopping

Joyce Mehrberg (that's me)
