Time Out #174...Reminder...Happy Hanukkah

There is still time to play along with the current challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by FESTIVALS.  I decided to make a card for Chanukah, The Festival of Lights.  I used this fun stamp from CAS Fridays called 8 Happy Nights.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team.  Craft Tangles is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Happy Chanukah

Chanukah is almost upon us, and I needed 6 Chanukah cards.  I decided to challenge myself to make them all with CAS-ual Friday's 8 Happy Nights stamp set.  And, happy coincidence, the challenge at CFC 188 is Winter Blues, a perfect choice for Chanukah cards.

I made this card by stamping the dreidel in Delicata Silver onto 3 different shades of blue paper, fussy cutting the dreidels and hanging them from a line, creating a festive Chanukah banner.

I used 2 of the little stars in the stamp set to create flames for the candles on the menorah, stamped on a die cut rectangle and framed in blue with PTI Infinity Frames.

I stamped and white heat embossed the words to the dreidel song along the left edge of the card, and created a stamped background with tumbling dreidels stamped in various Altenew blue inks.  The sentiment is also white heat embossed.

This next card was inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #249.  I challenged myself to use the tiny little row of dreidels and repeatedly stamped it at the bottom of the card.  I fussy cut 2 dreidels that were white heat embossed and then added texture to the card front.

For my next card, I clear embossed my stamp, and then sponged over the stamped area, adding some sequins and also distress inking the edges.

And, last up is that fun word menorah again.

Cards done....shopping...not done...

CASology Week 125: Silver

It's time for a new CASology challenge.  There were so many wonderful entries in the gallery last week for OLD.  It was so very hard to select a winner.  This week, our cue word is SILVER.  I am in holiday mode now, and I like using silver embossing on holiday cards.  I've got a Happy Hanukkah card today, and I will have a Christmas card later on in the week.

Here is a close up where you can better see the silver embossing powder as well as the Glossy Accents that represent the lit candles.

So, what about you?   How does the word SILVER inspire you?  Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by SILVER.  Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

CAS(E) this Sketch #3

I had some time to play around with this week's CAS(E) this sketch #3, and I have to say that the more I played with the sketch, the more I liked it.

First, I thought I would make a Chanukah card, using my new Menorah Medley dies from PTI.  Shimmer paper is so beautiful in person, but doesn't work very well in my photos.  I ended up having to flip the sketch because I messed up the embossing of the sentiment, and didn't want to waste my precious shimmer paper, so I just turned it over and tried again.

I decided to play around with this sketch some more, and tried a few versions for next year's Rosh Hashanah cards.  Nothing like being ahead of the game, since it won't roll around for another 11 months.

I made this card using all the pieces that were cut out from the star of David die cut above.

The card in the middle is my favorite, so that is the card I am linking up to this week's CAS(E) this sketch.  Do you have a favorite?

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Menorah Medley, Mazel Tov
Paper:  Spring Rain, Silver Shimmer, Dark Blue Shimmer, Rustic Cream, Scarlet Jewel
Ink:  VersaMark, Scarlet Jewel
Other:  Menorah Medley Dies, Silver Embossing Powder, Canvas/Linen Impression Plate

The 12 Kits of Christmas: May

What is going on?  Where is Christmas?  Has it been stolen by the Grinch?  No, don't worry.  This is just a brief interruption in our regularly scheduled '12 Kits of Christmas' program, to bring you the 1 kit of Hanukkah.

This month was my turn to host the kit, and I decided it might be fun for everyone to play with some Chanukah stuff, just as a change of pace.  I was pretty sure that I was the only one in the group who owned some of these stamps, and decided to send them out and see what happened.  Suzanne, our resident graphic designer, was kind enough to give us a new, temporary logo for this month, too.

Here is a picture of the kit I sent out.  Doesn't Kara do such a great job of taking photos?

I found some digital paper on Etsy that had a Chanukah theme as well as lots of fun other patterns, in a color scheme that matched with the PTI colors of Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain and Harvest Gold.  I used Mazel Tov, Tranquility Trilogy and an Obsession Impression Jewish Greeting set, plus lots of different die cuts in matching colors.  There is a complete supply list at the end of this post.

Since I was the host, I felt obligated to make a lot of projects.  No need to hold back any supplies to CASE any creations, since I could just make more of anything I needed.

Now for the best part--head on over to the blogs of all the other gals in The 12 Kits of Christmas to see what they have done with their Chanukah kits.
