Hello and happy Friday. I am popping in with a quick post to share some cards I've made this week. First up is a card I made for the challenge at Poppystamps #69: Clean and Simple using the colors from Color Throwdown #597. I used the Poppystamps Happy Birthday cover plate, one of my old favorites, and kept the card CAS by only adding pops of color for the 'happy birthday' at the bottom.
My next card is inspired by the challenge at The Flower Challenge #45 to use navy and one other color. I used navy card stock with white embossing, and my other color is PTI Berry Sorbet.
I have a tip for stamping a curved sentiment...I put my cardstock in my MISTI, and used a washable marker to draw the shape of the curve on the cover of the MISTI. Then, I opened the cover and stuck the stamp to the inside cover along the line I wrote. I tested it out before stamping on my actual card.
I saw an interesting tutorial on this week's Splitcoast Stamper newsletter on how to make a card inspired by quilting. I have a friend who quilts, and I thought it would be a great birthday card for her. I used papers from a Simple Stories pad. I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday #192 without toppings. It was so easy and I like how it came out. I may make a few more, using other patterned paper scraps. The tutorial showed using a leaf die cut for the candle flame. I didn't have an appropriate leaf die, so I used a leaf stamp that I inked in light yellow and then rolled a little in a darker yellow.
There is a fabulous challenge over at Shopping Stash #422: UnFinished Objects that had me pulling out an almost complete card to finish. Actually, 2 of them that were very similar. I will also enter at Cupcake Inspirations #422: Friendship.
Last of all, a very CAS card for Addicted to Stamps and More #393: Holiday, using some knitting themed stamps I borrowed from Tracey.
Thanks for Visiting

Fabulous cards Joyce! I am here from STB with those awesome candles and how clever to use a leaf stamp for the flame! And what a great way to use up all that pattern paper we hoard! Thank you for joining us at STB, it is great to see you!
ReplyDeleteWhere to start? I love the combination of raised and not die cuts on the first card. (At least that's how it appears to me in the photo.) YOur advice for curving a sentiment is brilliant! I love your enormous candles! (And thanks for thinking of Seize the Birthday.) Glad to see I'm not the only one with UFOs. ;) And finally, what a sweet holiday card - CAS but so much interest with the textures and die cuts. Thanks for linking it up to ATSAM!
ReplyDeleteLove all of your creations Joyce and those big candles are so fabulous!

ReplyDeleteI love that birthday cover plate, Joyce. Think of all the color combos you could use. I saw the tutorial and thought I'd make some of those candle cards. I love your paper choices. Thanks for the hint about curving sentiments. It looks wonderful on your beautiful blue card. Thanks for sharing that one with us at The Flower Challenge.
ReplyDeleteFabulous selection of cards! The hello cards are just great for our challenge. Thank you for joining us at Cupcake Inspirations - Charlotte/Lady Joyful, DT
ReplyDeleteWow Joyce, you sure have been busy and they are all so fabulous!! Thank you for sharing the tip for our challenge card for stamping on a curve. Have never heard of that idea and will definitely give it a try. Love the white flowers against the navy, so stylish and really good to see a curve instead of the usual straight sentiment. By the way, your last card with the wool is genius! Always wonderful to see you at The Flower Challenge!!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazingly creative, Joyce! Everytime I come here, I need to pause and appreciate the brain behind each of the cards. Thank You for giving me inspiring ideas and also joining us at Cupcake Inspirations :) Hugs ~ Ishani
