Another Crafty Day

You know that old saying--while the cat's away, the mice will play?  Well, DH and DD#2 are still out of town, and so I have had lots of time to craft.

My first card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #177, where I used PTI colors Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Ripe Avocado, Kraft and White.  I came across this card by Donna at Three Umbrella's.  Her card was called out as Moxie Fab, so I just had to go look.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make something along those lines.

I used PTI Background Basics Super Stripes to stamp a plaid pattern.  My original intention was to cut out the word 'you' and use the negative space.  However, it didn't look right, so I ended up cutting a couple of 'you's and building it up in layers.  I think you can see it better.  I think I still need some work in figuring out where to randomly place my rhinestones.

And, while we are talking about Colour Q, I would like to thank the ColourQ team for naming this card as the  Color Queen for Week #174.  I was so excited--it's my first time as Queen.

My next card is for Muse challenge #5.  This week's Muse is Marion Vagg.  This was a treat for me, as I had never been to her blog before.  Here is the inspiration card.

I was inspired by her use of washi strips, bright colors and a sentiment made out of die cut letters.   I used three patterns of washi tape that came together (so I guess that means that someone thinks they match), and had my stripes go on the diagonal.  I coated my die cut letters in several layers of UTEE--they are so shiny in person.  When I put them down after embossing, they were all crooked and wonky, and I decided I liked them that way, so that is how I glued them down.

I realize I had completely forgotten about the 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge--how could that happen, and decided to play along today when I remembered.  The prize this week is from Paper Smooches--one of my fave stamp companies, so check it out here.  You probably have 10 extra minutes to play along.  I used 9 minutes and 58 seconds to make my card--why does everything take so long?

And, finally--I fell in love with Marybeth's pinwheel tag here, and raided my scrap basket to come up with a whole bunch of pinwheel tags for my birthday stash.  I could have gone on and on, but I stopped at 6 because I ran out of time.  I used double sided paper, cut into 2 1/4 inch squares, and made one from each side of the paper.  I am entering all of these tags at Make it Monday #104.

  4. Wow! You really have been making good use of your time alone! First off, all those pinwheel tags are adorable. I don't think anything speaks birthday and fun more than a pinwheel. I also think your 10 min card looks like it took way longer than 10 minutes! Your hello letters with all the UTEE on them look just like the ones you buy at the craft store! I wish I had been there to craft with you, but then, you wouldn't have gotten so much done!

  20. That plaid looks awesome - a really great CASE of Donna's card. You can see the inspiration but it has it's own totally unique feel. Your washi card is so bright and cheerful and I love the way the letters are bouncing along! Your 10 minute card rocks. I still haven't been brave enough to try that challenge. :) As for your pinwheel tags? Too. Darn. Cute!
