Make it Monday: Happiness

I made a card for this week's Make it Monday, MIM #56: Die Cutting Partial Images.  In this video, Betsy shows how to use chipboard and fun foam to cut part of a die.  Perhaps there was trick photography involved?  Maybe it needs to be snowing outside? Probably, Betsy is truly a wizard!  At any rate, I could not get that technique to work for me, so I used a method I saw on some other blogs where you just run the die sandwich partially through the machine, and then back the sandwich out.  However it is done, I think the effect is pretty cool.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Beautiful Butterflies
Paper:  White, Berry Sorbet
Other:  Beautiful Butterflies die, Linen IP, Stickles

Thanks for Visiting

  1. Joyce,
You did an awesome job with this challenge. I love how you have the butterfly angled. The stamped background of butterflies is so pretty. Great color choice too.

  2. Love love love your beautiful butterfly Joyce. I watched the video a few times and thought, nope, not gonna happen. However, I have seen posts where crafters do exactly what you said, run part way in and then back out. Maybe, we'll see, but your card is fantastic!

  5. Agree, Joyce, that Betsy's technique didn't work for me either so I did a work-around instead. Got similar results. Your butterly card is adorable and looks like they are in flight.

  8. Well, whatever technique you used, hour card turned out great! I see you used your new butterfly set too. I love how you used versamark to make the patterned paper and it makes the diecut butterfly look like it is ready to fly off with the other butterflies. Do I see a linen and canvas IP on this one too? I knew you would love it!

  17. Joyce,

This is sooooo pretty! Love the color you chose and the little extra details like the glitter and the debossing. In the past, I wasn't a big butterfly person, but I absolutely love those stamps.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  22. No smoke and mirrors needed here. This is just beautiful. I love the card front's composition and that over hanging wing is so sweet. Not to mention that darling shadow/background stamping of the other butterlies taking flight. The perfect amount of glitz added too.

All that carry on with Betsy's MIM vid had me say never mind. You, ever so crafty one, have just inspired me to give it a go. Thank you for that!
