My Crafty Round Up

Hello and happy Sunday night.  I am popping in before my family barbeque to post some cards I've been working on this week.

First up is a card I made using these adorable kitties from the MFT Cats and Plants kit.  I followed the sketch at MFT Sketch Challenge #543 and the colors at MFT Color Challenge #166.  I am also entering this card at The Paper Players #543: Tic Tac Toe (birthday, twine, white), Addicted to Stamps and More #406: Make Your Mark, and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

I am still working on getting enough Father's Day cards before the big day.  I was inspired by the colors at Color Throwdown #644 to create my city scene.  I am also entering this card at Stay Crafty with Hero Arts #23: Fun in the Sun (Father's Day is a good excuse to have fun in the city on a sunny day), and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Last up is a trio of cards I made using my newest stamps and dies from The Greetery called Reflections.  I was just playing around with different colors of water and trees, and before I knew it, I had three cards.  I made 2 of them Father's Day cards and one a birthday card.  I am entering these cards at The Male Room #150: Water/Beach, and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Happy Friday

Hello and happy Friday.  I am popping in quickly to share a card I made with some new stencils I got from Altenew called Hill Blossoms.  It is so easy to line up and stencil these flowers, and there is no stamping at all.  I can't wait to try this in other colors.

Next up are two more card bases I made for the card set gift I wrote about here.

I stamped and heat embossed MFT Roses All Over using copper embossing powder.  Then I sponged Distress Oxide Speckled Egg and Peacock Feathers over the roses.

This card base is the same as the one above, except I used a glittery black embossing powder and blended 2 different shades of pink over the roses.  I am entering both of these cards at Retro Rubber #159: Anything Goes, Addicted to Stamps and More #406: Make Your Mark and  Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Time Out #188...Reminder...Happy Birthday

There is still time to play along with the current challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by something from inside your home, with the optional twist of embossing.  I was glancing around my craft room the other day, looked down at my feet, and realized that my shoes reminded me of The Dog's Woof stamps from Mama Elephant.

I made a birthday card crowded with colorful dogs, just like my shoes.  I pulled out a few of the most prominent colors from my shoes to use on my card.  After my stamping and coloring, I added dry embossing to my card front, using the Burlap Cover Plate from PTI.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from the Time Out Design Team.  Uniko is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

CASology Week #391...Photo

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is PHOTO.  I reached back--way, way, way back, into my stash to find these mini photo frame dies from PTI Framed Out, and added a few fun tiny images from PTI Tiny Treats Birthday.  I used an embossing texture plate to add a bit of interest to my white space.  One way to use tiny images is to put them in a frame.

Now it's your turn.  How does PHOTO inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our design team.

Happy Father's Day

Hello and happy Monday.  I realized I am completely out of Father's Day cards, so that is what I have been focusing on lately.  First up is a card inspired by my brand new Mama Elephant Urban City stamp and Addicted to CAS #198 : Ombre.  This card was so quick and easy to make because I started with a piece of ombre card stock from Lil Inkers Dip Dyed Ombre paper.  I am also entering this card at WWC316: Occasions (Father's Day).

I made another Father's Day card with the same stamp, this time adding inlaid die cutting to the mix.  I diecut the word 'DAD' using an old 'DAD' die from Lil Inker, then sponged it with 3 different shades of Hero Arts blue ink.  Before inserting the die cut back into the front panel, I built it up with several additional blue die cuts.  I added the 'happy father's day' sentiment on a small strip of white card stock.

My next two cards were inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #486, and I am squeaking in at the last minute to get them linked up.  I used the Halfsies Diamond die from The Greetery to create that curved shape on the left of the sketch, although my curve is more angular.

I die cut a piece of Lawn Fawn pattern paper that looked quite masculine to me, stamped a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Man of the Hour and then added a few star die cuts from PTI.  Wow, I am seeing that I have used so much old stuff on my cards today, and much of that is from companies that are no longer in business.

This card uses that same Halfsies die, but instead of patterned paper, I stamped Brutus Monroe Library Background in Autumn Rose ink on a piece of white card stock.  I added texture to my background, and my sentiment is the die cut Happy Birthday Script from MFT.  I am also entering this card at AAA Birthday #25, AAA Cards # 190Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Dies, and Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

And, last up for today, another Father's Day card, this one inspired by the sketch at Less is More #443.  I am also entering this card at The Sisterhood of Snark #185: A is for Animal and WWC316: Occasions (Birthday).  I think that this bird from Tim Holtz Bird Crazy is such a fun character.
