Muse #71 and Cards for Danny




When I saw this darling card by Marion Vagg for the Muse #71 Challenge, I knew exactly what I would make for my daughter's 15th birthday tomorrow.  She is nuts about owls, and I loved Marion's card so much, I didn't change much at all.

 Here is my card.  I made a hand drawn frame--never done that before, and then paper pieced the owl and branch from Paper Smooches Hooties.  I'll also link this up at Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge.

I'll bet you are surprised not to see a card for the PTI blog hop.  I have been so busy and just did not have time to make anything.  And, the little crafting time I had yesterday was spent making these two cards for a 5 year old boy who is gravely ill.  His big wish is to get a lot of birthday cards with is name on them.  His birthday cards from me will be late, as his birthday is today, but I imagine he will still be happy to receive birthday mail.  Here is a link to his story, if you would like to read more and perhaps send him a card, too.

    I thought of paper piecing an owl for the challenge but since I'm not much of a fussy cutter, I went with a watercolored one. I love yours and if your daughter loves owls as much and I do, she'll be squealing with delight over the card.

    Joyce, I love the cards you made for Danny...even more so because you sacrificed playing along with PTI's hop to create them. I need to check out his story...I have a feeling I'll need tissues, though...I'm already feeling a bit emotional today. And your paper-pieced owl is too cute. I can't believe how many patterns you mixed and how awesome they all look together.

    I AM surprised to not find a blog hop card, but I love your cards anyway! I bet your daughter adores that cute owl! The cards for Danny are lovely. I was thinking I'd make him a card, but coming from Australia, I might make it a general card rather than birthday, unless it's for next year... lol!
