CASology Week #97: Bee

Hello and happy Tuesday.   Wow--you guys really went to town on last week's cue word of flower.  We had so many stunning entries--it was really difficult to choose the winners.

It's time for new challenge at CASology. Our cue word this week is BEE.  Now, do NOT do what I did and run screaming because you hate bees and don't think you have any bee stamps.  Do not even think of calling in sick to the challenge.  I know that bees are really good for the environment and the garden.  I have even seen lots and lots of cute bee stamps.  But, what can I say--I just don't like bees (or honey either).

Anyway, it turns out that I do have a bee stamp after all, and it is kind of a cute bee--provided it stays on my card and doesn't buzz around and sting me.  This little cutie pie bee was hiding in my PTI Tiny Treats Birthday set.  You will probably not be surprised to learn that this is the first time I have ever inked him up.

I stamped my bees on a stitched circle die cut, and colored them in with a Distress Marker.  No particular reason to choose Distress other than that I just got it and wanted to try it out.  I made a background out of a hexagon die cut adhered to a white card base, and randomly filled in some of the hexagons.  In order to make the yellow hexagons match the yellow on the bee, I just colored the white hexagon die cut with the same marker I used for the bee.

I have to say that this bee looks friendly and cute--not as scary as some of the real live bees who swarm around outside.

Now, it is your turn.  What are your feelings and opinions about bees?  Love 'em?  Do you have any cute bee stamps you are dying to bust out?   Have some fun with the cue word BEE, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 6/2 at noon (CST).
Since CASology is a Clean And Simple challenge, I thought it would be helpful to review some things to keep in mind when creating a CAS design:
1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)

3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

You can see that my card meets all 4 criteria above.

So, what do you think of when you see the word BEE?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by BEE.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 6/2 at noon (CST).

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

  3. Fun card Joyce -- and I agree with you that bees would only be cute on a card -- nowhere else.

  7. Boy would you hate the bee stories I can tell! Love your cute card. I think that might be the only bee I have too so you might see it again! ;)

  8. I don't mind bees but I don't have a stamp. Uh oh, maybe I can't do this challenge. You, on the other hand, did a great job with your cute little bee and the hexie die.

  12. Look at that - I have this stamp and didn't even realize it! That shows how long it's BEEn (tee hee!) since I visited my PTI stamps. Despite your feelings for the little guys I'm glad you gave them an outing here - they look like a happy little swarm! And I love the partially colored honeycomb! :)

  14. Joyce, I couldn't agree more regarding your dislike of bees! I feel the same way. However, your bee card is quite cute and I love the coordinating colors on your hexagons. Very creative, fun card!

  15. Joyce...this is just too cute! I am with you regarding bee's but your little buzzers are just adorable. And so clever to use your hexagon coverplate for your background with yellow and black, the perfect bee card!

  16. Nope. No bees for me either! At least they do something good for the environment (unlike mosquitoes)! :)
Love this patchwork looking design, Joyce! As a quilt lover, the background reminds me of a quilt design!!!
