I have a card for this week's Make it Monday #158: Stamping with Water Color Mediums. I just got a couple of new Distress Ink colors (Mowed Lawn and Picked Raspberry), so I inked up Reasons to Smile and then spritzed with water before stamping. I like this technique, and want to try it again if I have time.
I fnished the flowers off with Pure Poppy and Black without any water, impressed with the Aida IP and then coated the flower centers with Wink of Stella. Gosh, how I love that Wink of Stella. I just ordered a second one, just in case mine runs out. I would not want to get caught without my Wink.
I was inspired by the color blocking on this card of Christina's, and decided to use this week's ColourQ cQc #235 colors with Wet Paint stamps and my new Zing Copper Embossing powder.
And one more card that I made the other day but did not get to post--my sister is turning 50 next week. (yes, she is my YOUNGER sister)...I had this idea to use a Technique Tuesday stamp that has a collage of numbers all together, and to highlight the '50'. I stamped once in Baja Breeze on a white piece cut with the Lil Inker Stitched Rectangle. Then, I stamped again in Calypso Coral on a scrap, cut out the 0 and the 5, coated them in a few layers of UTEE, and stuck them on top of the 0 and the 5.
When my daughter saw the card, she asked why it said 05? What do you think? I hope my sister gets it. I am thinking I may try another version where I just use a die cut 5 and 0.
That's it for me today.
Thanks for Visiting
Joyce these are all fabulous but that first one is so stunning! Gorgeous! Love you colour blocking too. Thank you for sharing at the colourQ!
ReplyDeleteLove your very pretty card, it's so clean and vibrant. I also like the aida IP background. It finishes the card beautifully. Di
ReplyDeleteI still haven't tried that watercolor technique but I really need to - I love the look! And I know what you mean about the Wink of Stella - I just got one and am already worried it's going to run out! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the colour blocking on the second card!
Joyce, I love the embossing on your MIM card...why oh why do I not emboss more when the end result is so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful from flowers to all graphic :) love them all :)
ReplyDeleteFun trio of cards today Joyce! Those little pink flowers are so sweet. You did a great job on your sister's bday card, love the sparkly red numbers. And you rocked the cQc colors, river rock is s tough one! Thanks so much for joining us at the ColourQ!
ReplyDeleteI just love your Make It Monday card- so simply sweet and happy!
ReplyDeleteI love this floral image, Joyce ... it looks gorgeous in these vibrant colours, and with that wonderful texture! If I get to MIM this week (and it's a big if!), it's the set I'll be using too! Fabulous cool colour blocks and such a clever card for your sister ... those popped up numbers are so luscious looking! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun Joyce and I totally got it! Maybe it is an old lady thing, LOL. Such a fun card and one I need to pin too. Your ColourQ color blocking card is amazing too, so vivid and bold...love all your cards!
ReplyDeleteThree great cards, Joyce. I love that IP you used and the watercolor stamped is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the floral card, with the embossed background it makes it almost look like your cross-stitched it. I love the random numbered birthday card. I get it and I think it makes the sentiment even truer--age is just a number, twist it anyway you want.... five oh or oh five it's all the same.
ReplyDeleteYour reasons to smile watercoloring card is beautiful! I have yet to use that stamp set, lol.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! You've been busy, busy, busy! But I can't think of a better way to be busy. Your cards are fantastic. Love the bold simplicity of your color blocked card especially. But they are all wonderful! Bev
ReplyDeleteLove the watercolored card - you used 2 of my favorite DI colors!
ReplyDeleteAnother great array of cards, Joyce! Your MIM card is soooo pretty! And about your sister turning 05, I got it right away. But that's because I always transpose the numbers of my birthday when the numbers work to my advantage! I think being 5 with all the wisdom and knowledge of a 50-year-old would be hella fun!! Happy Birthday to her! Have a great weekend! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteGorgeous water color...that's on my list to make. Love the pink flowers. Great color locked card too the paint sentiment is a perfect choice. Loving the number card .....and 05 is so perfect and your sister will appreciate it I bet! Happy Birthday to her.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Joyce but my favourite is the watercolour card with the soft colours and the textured background is wonderful.
