Retro Sketch #44 and Serendipity #2

I had a bit of time to play in my craft room today, and worked on replenishing my stock of sympathy cards.  I used this week's Retro Sketches #44 as my sketch.

I used Vintage Cream card stock and PTI Harvest Berries for my focal point.  The smaller bit of branch is popped up with foam tape.  I used a stamp from Background Basics Text Style in Ocean Tides for the left panel.

After I finished the card, I wondered how it would look in another color, and also with a bit of texture.  I made another similar card using Scarlet Jewel and the Canvas & Linen Impression Plate on the main panel.  I also switched the ink color to grey on the text stamping.

Here they are together.  Which do you think is better?

My next card is for the current Serendipity challenge, which is to make a winter birthday card.  I am lucky enough to have a friend in high places (i.e. on the design team), and Cathy was kind enough to send me some stamped images so I could play along.  I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Challenge 'New Something'.  This beautiful Serendipity stamped image is new to me.

  1. Joyce I think both cards are beautiful but I think the difference to me is the two different inks gives it more interest. You sure are lucky, Cathy must be a wonderful person. You made a beautiful card with the image she sent you!

  2. Joyce, all of your cards so beautiful. I love how you used that harvest berries for your sympathy card, very, very clever and these make the most beautiful cards for a difficult time. Your birthday card is so sweet, I love that stamp with the tree and little bunny running. Fabulous colors and I am looking forward to your card tomorrow with that darling little dog!

  3. I really like the sympathy cards - simple & delicate. I like the Scarlet Jewel a little more - the touch of texture definitely adds something to the design. Love the stitched sentiment flag on the birthday card.

  5. Not so sure about the "friend in high places", but I sure do love the card you made Joyce. I love that you added the stitched border to it and especially the two color combination you used. The double banner colors really make it stand out.
