I don't have a Christmas tree, but who says I can't have any ornaments? I was in Michaels the other day, and spotted a Hero Arts ornament set on sale for 40% off. So, now I have some ornaments. I used this set to make a card for this week's CASology #22, where the key word is Sparkle. When I came up with this idea, I actually thought the key word was Shiny, so I thought I'd fussy cut the ornaments and then coat them with a few layers of UTEE. Slight change in plans to accommodate the actual key word--I still used UTEE, but stamped all the ornaments with Versamark Dazzle--so they are sparkly and shiny, too. It's hard to see in the photo, but the ornaments are glossy and shimmery.
I also planned to enter this card in this month's Hero Arts challenge, but I can't seem to find the link. If you know where that challenge is, please let me know.
My next card is for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #8, where the challenge is to make a card in 10 minutes or less featuring red. I made this card in 9 minutes, 23 seconds. I have been wanting to make a Damask Snowflake impressed with the Mehndi Medallion plate ever since I saw it done on this card by Kelly at Notable Nest.
I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp, where the challenge is snowflakes.
I planned to use some glitter, too, but ran out of time, since I was doing a 10 minute challenge. So, after I took that picture, I used my glue pen to apply some Martha Stewart Garnet glitter to the snowflakes, as instructed by Erin in this week's Make it Monday #94:Detail Glitter Technique.
Here is the card after I put the glitter on:

Hi Joyce! Beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteTo get to the Hero Arts challenge, you can go to the Hero Arts website and click on "Blog" ---> then in the sidebar there is usually a box for the Challenge but they just announced that they are taking December off.
There is also a fan blog at A Blog Named Hero. :)
Fun cards! I saw those same stamps just the other day but resisted...you are not helping;) I really love the snowflake card and I'm not sure why, but I like the one without the glitter better! Both are really pretty though and the red just pops!
ReplyDeleteYou were one busy girl today Joyce. These cards are all wonderful, how come your Michael's had those fun ornaments and mine doesn't. Must be a Canada thing. From the top I love your shiny sparkly ornaments, just beautiful. What a great idea to use the UTEE and the sparkly VersaMark. Moving on to the Craft Dash--LOVE. How clever to use the medallion IP on the snowflake and the Simple Stripe IP in the background. Gorgeous and to be CASEd. Thank you so much for sharing with us this week at CASology!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so fun and festive! Your ornaments are just beautiful and that snowflake card, so stunning! I love glitter but I will have to choose the one without, I love just seeing the bright red and your red sentiment. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteooh, Joyce, I LOVE how your damask snowflake turned out, it's so striking in red! I would have never thought of that. How festive and unique! Thanks so much for the shout-out, that's so cool : ) Love your UTEE ornaments too. You are a patient lady!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you.. no tree up here either ... yet.... but oooh gotta have some decorations right? Love your ornaments and that gorgeous embossed snowflake!
ReplyDeleteI love the embossing on your large snowflake, Joyce-- that looks fabulous! I think I like it better without the glitter, though...
ReplyDeleteThey're both fabulous Joyce!!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you can have some baubles...
everyone needs a few in their lives! :)
And on the 2nd card...
I like the snowflake without the glitter...

ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful, Joyce! The ornaments look so gorgeous. I really like how you used the stripes at an angle on that one. Love your red snowflake--the one without glitter just a little better though. Great idea to use the medallion impression plate and the 'peace' sentiment!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the red snowflake - both glitter and not - the medallion impression is perfect!
