Four-of-a-Kind #12 and a Special Celebration Giveaway

It's my favorite time of the month again--Four of a Kind posting time.  I think most of my readers know what is about to happen, but if you are new, please click here to get the scoop.

This month is very special because  it marks the one year point for our Four-of-a-Kind group and my one year blogaversary.  This month, one year ago, I started a blog so I would have somewhere to post the cards I made with my newly found blogging friends, Cathy, Kim, and Renee.  Well, what a wild ride it has been.  I have made so many new friends, posted and blogged numerous cards, entered many challenges, and even won a few.  If you can bear with me for a very picture heavy post, there will be information about a celebration giveaway at the end.

This month, Renee is our hostess, and she sent us a kit chock full of Waltzingmouse goodness, featuring Sewing Box Hugs, as well as lots of Lily Bee Double Dutch paper.  I always hope for a self assembling card kit, as those are usually the easiest to work with.  But, as you will soon see, Renee sent me a kit that was particularly bewitched.

Here is a picture of what Renee sent:

I began by cutting out all those sweet Sewing Box Hugs images while watching the Olympics.   These cut images then arranged themselves into the following cards.

What do you think of that denim ribbon?  Can you believe Renee made that?

Well, after these four cards, I thought I was done.  Time to hoard (as usual) all the rest of the patterned papers that Renee sent.  But then, a funny thing happened.  The papers Renee sent refused to go into my patterned paper basket.  They begged and pleaded to be used.  They did not want to gather dust.  They wanted to be run through my Cuttlebug.  OK.  So here are a few more cards I made with the papers Renee sent.  I told you they were bewitched.

I did make one other card using these patterned papers, and if you want to see it, stop by tomorrow for the Waltzingmouse blog party.  Would you believe that I still have things left over?  And, I had a few more ideas for cards, but I ran out of time.

Good for you for making it to the end of this post.  Please leave me a comment telling me which is your favorite card, and you will be eligible for one of two prizes--a $20 Gift Certificate to PTI or the Paper Smooches Chit Chat set.  There will be two winners--one for each prize.  You have until Thursday, August 23 to leave your comment.  One comment per person, please.

Now you can head over to the other members of our Four of a Kind group to see what they have created with the same kit.  That is one of my favorite parts of our little group--the BIG reveal.  There will be excitement for sure on Kim's blog, where she will be holding her own blogaversary celebration and contest as well.

  2. Wow you really stretched this kit! Great cards, and happy blogiversary! It's so hard to pick just one card, but there is something about the dark blue background on the take time to smell the flowers card that is really striking. Thanks for the chance to win some goodies!

  4. Are you really serious that I have to narrow it down to just one favorite card? Too hard to do. How about two then? I love your first "home sweet home" card - the sun rays make the home look warm and fun. Your "thank you sew much" patchwork is really pretty. Anyone would love to receive that thank you card.

Congratulations on your one year blog anniversary. I remember being excited when you started your blog as I love your creative work. Gosh, it's been a year already.

  9. First, congrats on the one year blogaversary! You must have had a really smart friend who encouraged you to get a blog up and running, didn't you? LOL. I guess you were in your craft room for hours with this great kit Renee sent us, you made some really cute cards and used that great denim trim so perfectly too. I love that you used all the extra paper and made such cute hexagon cards...also love that cute house card. You always see so many things I don't and I guess that is why this 4 of a Kind is so fun, seeing new things with the same materials. Congrats on the anniversary!

I don't know how your cards make themselves, I am seriously jealous! Love that you kept going with the scraps - love those papers with all the quilting cards especially the "sew" card and the patches hanging on the line. Gorgeous! Big Hugs and Big Congrats! SO glad we met!

  20. Joyce...Happy 1 year Anniversary! I just love your blog and always look forward to see what you have created. Thank you for the arm twisting and encouragement to get me to get my blog up and running.
Now on to your cards...they are all so amazing, way too had to choose a favorite. I was stumped on how to use the handmade denim ribbon or the embossed frame pieces and you how no problem, but I knew that would be the case and I would have a place to go for ideas. I love it how we occasionally think the same and this time it is the bling for the smoke...just too clever. I love your home sweet home card with the incredible sunrise behind it...such a creative touch to this already amazing card.
Congrats again on your one year anniversary and I look forward too many more years of seeing your creations.

  25. Wow Joyce, you really did a great job with all those cards. Loving the one that says "thank you sew much" it reminds me of the quilts my grandmother made.

Also . . . had to say thanks for taking such good care of my lil sis when she visited . . . she still talks about how much fun she had.

  26. WOW, look at all those amazing cards! You did an awesome job! I didn't realize you only started blogging one year ago. You have so many wonderful posts. I thought you had been doing it for much longer. I adore this WM set and you used it so well. Love what you did with the hexagons too! That house with the pearl smoke is so adorable. But if I must pick a favorite, it is the 'sending homespun hugs' card with the quilts on the line--so comfy & sweet--really love that one!

  31. Joyce, congrats on your first year of blogging! You're way ahead of me (I haven't started yet). What an awesome it Renee sent you gals, and you certainly went to town making some adorable cards. Hard to pick a fav but my first choice would be your "home sweet home" home with the rays and chevrons finished off with the polka dot ribbon. Your "thank you sew much" certainly uses lots of scraps, but they are beautiful together. Super job and look forward to continuing to follow your blog posts!
