Make it Monday #72

I have some cards for this week's Make-it-Monday #72:  Step-it-Up Embellishments.  I didn't stray too far from the video, because I really wanted to play with my new Lovely Layers set.

Here is the first card:

The second card--with just a bit more layering, including embossed vellum:

The third card--even more layers:

This is a very fun technique, and it was good to play with my new stamp set.

The 12 Kits of Christmas: June

It's the end of June, and that means it is time for my monthly 12 Kits of Christmas post.  If you are wondering what you have stumbled into, please click here for more information.  This month's haul was generously provided by Amy of Stamp-N-Paradise.  Just take a look at all the goodies she sent.  One of the most fun parts about this group is getting to play with stamp sets and dies I don't have, and this month was no exception.  There was not a single item in Amy's kit that I already owned, with the exception of the solid card stock.  Score!

I made 4 cards this month, and saved a number of items to use later, when I see what the others have done with them.

I had such fun playing with all the goodies in Amy's kit, and now I am eager to see what everyone else has created.  Thank you so much, Amy, for sending such a wonderful kit.  If you are curious about anything used to make these cards, head over to Amy's blog, where I'm sure she will have information on the supplies she sent.

Here is a list of the other members of The 12 Kits of Christmas.  Please stop by their blogs and check out what they have done this month.

ColourQ Birthday Cards

I started playing with this week's ColourQ colors, and found them to be such fun.  I made a trio of birthday cards with these colors.  As I am on a bit of a casing-kick, each of my cards was inspired by another talented crafter.

This first card was inspired by one of Maile's cards during this month's release festivities.

Celebrate

I loved the layout of Deanna's card this week, and decided to use that for this next card.

Hexagon Birthday

Finally, I spotted a sweet owl card the other day at Wading in Creativity, and decided to make a similar card using Wise Owl.

More Hexie Fun

I had so much fun on Sunday playing with my new Hexagon Cover plate.  I made three cards, and there is not a single original idea on any of them.  Who cares?  They are all cased from the instructional video posted by Nicole.  I got out my brand new Lily Bee Buttercup paper pad, and started cutting hexagons. What a great way to finally use some of my patterned papers.

I was at Sweet Factory the other day with my daughters, and they were giving out plastic candy containers.  It turned out to be the perfect case to hold my extra hexagons.  Who needs candy when you have hexagons, right?

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Sending You, Think Big
Paper:  White, Ocean Tides, Lilly Bee Buttercup
Other:  Hexagon Cover Plate

PTI June 2012 Blog Hop

Here is the beautiful inspiration photo we were given for this month's PTI blog hop:

I was determined to use something new for my card, since this is the first time I have ever received a release package in time to make something for the blog hop.  I saw the ruffles, thought of scallops, and decided to use the Background Basics Rainbow stamp set.

I will be honest and say that this is not one of my favorite cards.  But, it is done, and I didn't have time to make anything else.  Enjoy the hop.  I expect I will see many cards I wish I had thought of myself.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Background Basics:  Rainbow, Mixed Messages
Paper:  Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold
Other:  Doily Die,  Hello Friend Die, Polka Dot IP, Ribbon, Button, Embroidery Floss
Ink:  Color Box Fresh Green, Harvest Gold

A Pink Birthday

I have my third card for this week's Make it Monday #71:  Bordered Sentiments.  I guess I really like this technique, and it seems like lots of others feel the same way.  This card is also for this week's CAS-ual Friday's CFC 58:  Pretty in Pink.  I started to make this card using several shades of pink, but I didn't like how it looked.  I decided to go with my darkest, brightest pink--Raspberry Fizz paper with Versacolor Opera Pink ink and paired that with Memento London Fog.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Think Big, Dot Spot, Waltzingmouse Off Beat Patterns
Paper:  White, Raspberry Fizz
Other:  Pinking Die
Ink:  Memento London Fog, Versacolor Opera Pink

Hexie Fun

I got my PTI package in record time for me--one week from release--and had a bit of time to play with the hexagons.  Such fun.  I made a quick card, which I decided to turn into an anniversary card, because I learned I missed my sister-in-law's anniversary as I was sorting out my hexagons.  So, this card will be popped into the mail on Monday.  I also forgot that there is a video and a color planning download, and I will definitely take a look at both of those before my next hexagon card.  At any rate, these hexagons are pretty easy to mess around with, even without any instructions.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Happy Hexagons, Think Big Favorites
Paper:  White, Kraft
Ink:  Kraft, Terracotta Tile, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado
Other:  Hexagon Cover Plate

Make it Monday--Take 2 with ColourQ

I'm back with another card for this week's Make it Monday.  This time, I used the beautiful palette from ColourQ #142.  Taking my cues from Kara, I used PTI colors--Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise and Berry Sorbet.  I made a piece of plaid paper using Waltzingmouse Off Beat Backgrounds, and stamped my strip on the diagonal, for a bit of a different look.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Movers and Shakers, Rosie Posie, WM Off Beat Backgrounds
Paper:  White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist
Ink:  Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Versa Color Turquoise
Other:  Heart Border

Make it Monday #71

This week, for Make it Monday #71, Betsy Veldman showed us how to use masking to make bordered sentiments.  This is such a great and easy technique.  My card came together so quickly because I followed Betsy's card design, and grabbed the first piece of patterned paper at the top of my scrap pile.  How's that for efficient crafting?  I didn't have the right color pen, so I used score lines instead of a drawn line around my sentiment.

I lined the inside of the card, because I used a Royal Velvet card base.  Here is a peek:

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Harvest Berries Birthday Bash Sentiments
Paper:  Royal Velvet, Rustic Cream, Pacific Vineyard
Ink:  Royal Velvet, Ripe Avocado
Other:  Pinking Die

CAS-Fridays and Dynamic Duos

The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays CFC57 is to use acetate or vellum.  I decided to use acetate, since I bought an entire pack a long time ago, and haven't ever used it.  I made a card inspired by this card shown by Nicole during the Lovely Layers release.  I used this week's dynamic duos DD#7 colors of Black and Melon Mambo, which I interpreted as Hibiscus Burst.  I skipped the dessert option of ribbon, since I couldn't see how to use it on this card--which is kind of strange, since I rarely skip dessert in real life.

The Inside

Supplies Used (PTI):
Paper:  White, Clear, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps:  Modern Basics, Simple Sentiments
Other:  Nestie circle, Mat Stack and Layerz 2
