Time Out #53...The Right Shoes

Hello and welcome to another challenge at Time Out.  This week, we are inspired by words:

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. --Eleanor Roosevelt

I love that quote.  It makes me want to make a card to encourage a friend to be strong and feel like they can do anything.

I pulled out a super old SU set It's a Girl Thing and stamped the row of shoes a couple of times. Colored and fussy cut the shoes and then arranged them randomly in my circular window.

I sponged a bit of distress ink in the window before attaching the shoes.  It kind of looks like my shoes are tumbling in the dryer or something.  I paired those shoes with one of my favorite sentiments, from PTI Green Thumb.

We had a bit of a scheduling snafu, so this challenge is only running for one week.  So, hurry and play along right away!  Don't delay, unless it is to go shoe shopping.  Then, come back and play along.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team and Guest Designer. Our Guest Designer this week is Elaine.

CASology Week 90: Wet

It's time for another CASology challenge, and our cue word this week is WET.  If you live in California like me, you are probably worried about this terrible drought we have been having--well, here is your chance to get all WET without wasting one single drop of precious water.  Have some fun with this cue word, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 4/14 at noon (CST).

I created a little mini scene that has not been seen around my house in ages--rain boots and an umbrella set off in the corner to dry.  I pulled out some oldies for this card--the rain boot is from PTI Green Thumb and the Umbrella is from PTI Scattered Showers.  A few sequins are filling in as rain, and I used the sentiment from Green Thumb that sold me on the set in the first place.  If you are a shoe-lovin' gal, you probably can relate to this sentiment.

I did a bit of masking to create my scene--and that is my CAS tip for today--to use masking to create a sense of depth and layers.  I started by stamping the top portion of the umbrella using SU Cherry Cobbler.  Then I created a mask for that umbrella top, and stamped the boot, so it would look like it was behind the umbrella.  I made a mask of the boot and stamped the handle of the umbrella, so it would look like it was behind the boot.  Easy peasy, and the masks were not too hard to make either.  I used small post it notes.

Since CASology is a Clean And Simple challenge, I thought it would be helpful to review some things to keep in mind when creating a CAS design:

1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)
3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

You can see that my card meets all 4 criteria above.

So, what do you think of when you see the word WET?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by wet.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 4/14 at noon (CST)

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

PTI 7th Anniversary--Monthly Moments Trading Card Challenge

When I woke up this morning, I had no idea what a Trading Card was.  After reading about the Monthly Moments Trading Card Challenge and all the new PTI products, I thought I'd make a card and then get on with my day.  Well, one thing led to another, I kept pulling stamp sets out--some that hadn't seen ink in a long time, and before I knew it, I had an enormous mess on my hands and a big stack of Trading Cards.  These little cards are so much fun to make.  I had a very crafty day, and now I have a big mess to clean up.

Warning--lots of pictures:

Lastly, I have a card for this week's Make it Monday #151, using the sketch and color scheme from the Anniversary Recipe challenge.  I used Washi tape for Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, and Summer Sunrise, and skipped the Scarlet Jewel.  Instead of stamping the lower layer of the banner, I used coordinating washi tape and die cut paper covered with tape.

That's it for me today.  I have a huge mess on my desk that I need to clean up before I start playing again.  I know there were a lot of photos today.  Thanks for sticking with me till the end.
