Time Out #204...Adventure Awaits

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired the word:

NEW

New year and new beginnings...my oldest daughter moved to a new city to start a new job.  I know they are already finding new adventures.  And, this is what I imagine the sky might look like when the first snow flurries of the year arrive.

I created my blended background sky by sponging and blending several different colors of distress oxide inks.  A splattering of water and glimmer spray gave me the snowy look I was going for.  And, I added the die cut Washington DC skyline to personalize the scene to their new home.

CASology Week #398...Above

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is ABOVE.

I live in an area where hot air balloons are very popular, and I often see them in the distance, flying above the trees and clouds.  I used these cute hot air balloons from Hero Arts, and a bit of masking to create my scene, where the sentiment is tucked into the space below the balloons.

Now it's your turn.  How does ABOVE inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our design team.

Time Out #202...Fa-La-La!

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by this photo.  I was inspired by this photo to make a winter holiday card, and even used the red and white color scheme as well as the writing on the pillow to inspire my sentiment.

I used one of my favorite images from our sponsor, Stamplorations, called Christmas Reindeer.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, my friend Bobby,  and the Time Out Design Team.  Stamplorations is our sponsor for this challenge. Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Time Out #201...Ruff Day?

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by this quote:

"Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication" - Leonardo Da Vinci

Our lovely sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Fridays stamps, and I used their stamps, Nate & Friday, for my card.  Inspired by the word 'simplicity' in the inspiration quote, I kept my card very simple--One image and a small pop of color, and I think that the expression on this pup's face really says it all.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Helen Finlay,  and the Time Out Design Team.  CAS-ual Fridays is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Time Out #200...Wanna Play

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by the word or idea PRECIOUS.  I thought of what is precious to me that I could make into a card that I could send to someone.  Of course--my dog!  He is so precious to me, and I have so many friends and family members who also love their dogs, so this one was pretty easy for me.

I used sponsor stamps PetsHousesHouses Extra (some of my most favorite Stamplorations creations) to set my little neighborhood scene, with the dog front and center.  I just love the whimsical, sketchy style of these stamps, and tried to color a bit whimsically to match.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Kinjal Trivedi of My Mind Paper  and the Time Out Design Team.  Stamplorations is our sponsor for this challenge. Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

The Time Out Challenge is having a Design Team call!!  All the details are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.  Perhaps it is TIME for you to join our fun team.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

CASology Week #397...Type

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is TYPE.  I went pretty literal with this one, and looked through my stash (actually, just typed into Evernote!) to see what typewriters I had.  Wow, I had quite a choice to make.  Now, I think my kids have probably never seen a typewriter, but I actually took typing class in high school, and I have to say that even then, this typewriter would have been seen as old-fashioned.  I do like the look of these Vintage Blueprint stamps from Tim Holtz.

I love red and kraft together, so went with that simple color scheme.  And, because this image is so large, and I was trying to leave a lot of 'white' space, I stamped partially off the page.

Now it's your turn.  How does TYPE inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our Guest Designer, Claire, and our design team.

Time Out #199...Peace on Earth

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by the theme:  Down to Earth, with an option twist of using kraft card stock.

I thought of 'Peace on Earth' and made a holiday card using kraft as my card front.  The round shape of my tags is also meant to represent the shape of earth.  I was able to pull out some old favorite stamps and dies from PTI for my card.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Elizabeth, and the Time Out Design Team.  Alex Syberia Design is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

I am also entering this card at Color Hues #28: Red & Kraft, Retro Rubber #169: Anything Goes (stamps from 2016), and Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge #2 (thanks, Sweet Elizabeth!).

Cozy Scene and Happy Birthday

Hello and happy Wednesday.  I am popping in quickly with (just) 2 cards that I need to post before heading out of town to see friends (finally) and family.

First up is this cozy little scene.  This is what I imagine Sherlock does when I am away.  I was inspired by the challenge at Sugar Peas October Mix it Up #84.  I used the inspiration colors, as well as tried to create the cozy mood of their inspiration photo.  I am also playing along at AAA Cards #201: One corner.

Sherlock 'helping me' craft

And, in a completely different direction, look outside--it's sunny again in San Diego, and some of my animal friends are basking in the sunshine, having a birthday party.  I am entering this card at MFT Color Challenge #175, Seize the Birthday #225: Stencil, Happy Little Stampers Stencil Anything Goes, and Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

Weekend Update

Hello and happy Sunday.  I am playing along with the Pinkfresh Challenge for the very first time, and I am using stamps and stencils from Miss Your Smile.  I was inspired by the fall color palette in the October challenge.  I am also entering this card at Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge: Anything Goes.

Next up is this adorable Christmas deer from PTI Fawn and Flora.  I'm not sure I've ever used these stamps and dies yet, although they are from 2018--oops.  I am inspired by the PTI Video Challenge to make a Holiday Wishes card, Color Hue #28: Kraft & Red, and Retro Rubber #169: Anything Goes (stamps are from 2018).

Next up are the last batch of 3 cards I made the other day, using stamps and dies from Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit from September, 2018.  I am entering all three of these Hero Arts cards at Stay Crafty with Hero #28: Fall Colors, Addicted to Stamps and More #416: Make Your Mark,  Retro Rubber #169: Anything Goes (stamps are from 9/2018), Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Fall Mood Board, and Shopping Our Stash #456: Autumn.

Last but not least, another one of those little folding scenes--I don't know what they are called, but they are most definitely 'not a card', so I am entering it at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Not a Card.
