Getting Ready for the Holidays

Hello and happy Monday.  It's been a while since I posted something just for fun.  First up is a card inspired by some leftovers from a card I made taking a Hero Arts card class online 2 weeks ago.  I pulled out some Distress Oxide ink pads and blended myself a pretty pink and purple background and then coated it with shimmer spray.  I used the die cut letters from a holiday cover plate by Hero Arts, using the actual die cut as a template to place the letters.  The 'O' in Holidays was looking a little empty, so I popped on a cute little penguin.

I am entering this card at Color Hues #26: Purple & Pink, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Touchy Feely (texture from the raised letters and penguin), and Addicted to Stamps & More #414: Any Occasion (Christmas Holidays).

My next card uses a Poppystamps Ornament Trio Cutout die and Washi tape.  I wanted to play along at Poppystamps #84: Wonderful Washi, and looked for a creative way to use some glittery and metallic washi tape.  I used the washi tape underneath the spaces cut out by the ornament dies, and used black card stock inlaid for the strings.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Touchy Feely (texture from die cuts), and Addicted to Stamps & More #414: Any Occasion (Christmas Holidays).

Last up is a set of cards with matching envelopes using Altenew Garden Hydrangea stamps and dies. I am entering this set at Just Us Girls #603 (purple flowers) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Card + Matching Envelope.

Time Out #197...Wish You the Most Beautiful Day

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by this quote:

"In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends." by Okakura Kakuzo, The Book of Tea

I was inspired by this quote to make a friendship card with one of my most favorite flower stamps--Beautiful Day from Altenew.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from the Time Out Design Team.  Altenew is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for two weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Time Out #196...New Home

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by the word BRAVE.  My oldest daughter graduated college and moved across the country in July to pursue her dream job.  She didn't know a soul.  To me, that is brave, and I am so proud of her.

I made her this card, to celebrate the new home she is putting together.  She has her own studio apartment, and I will get to see it when I fly out to visit this weekend. I used sponsor stamps Funky Fossil Whimsy Town for my card.  I really love the look of those whimsical houses.

While I had those stamps out, I made another card for a brave young woman in my family.  My sister's youngest daughter also moved to Washington DC for medical school.  Another brave move, to be celebrated with this card.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Rahmat, and the Time Out Design Team. Funky Fossil Designs is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

CASology Week #395...One

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is ONE.  I created a little scene with one little mouse holding one balloon.  It doesn't get much simpler than this.  My card front panel has no layers or die cuts, and some might consider it a one layer card.

Now it's your turn.  How does ONE inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our design team.

Labor Day Weekend Crafting

Hello.  Long time, no craft.  My nest is empty again, and I had some time to play with some of the new goodies I have been buying but not using.  I'll be brief.  First up is a featuring two shades of turquoise distress inks (salvaged patina & peacock feathers) blended with the Dahlia stencils from Altenew.  I sprayed the entire card front with Avery Elle Clear Shimmer spray, which is super shimmery IRL, but not captured by the photo.  The die cut hello is also from Altenew, and I layered it up for some dimension.  I am entering this card at The Flower Challenge #60: Turquoise.

I used the same stencil and shimmer spray for my next card, but used a slightly different portion of the stencil.  Blending distress scattered straw and spiced marmalade also gives this card a different look from the one above.  I am entering this card at Color Hues #25: Yellow & Orange and Addicted to Stamps and More #413: Birthday.

Here are both cards together, and I am entering the pair of cards at Addicted to CAS #205: Nature (flowers), WWC323: Feminine, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Glimmer & Sparkle, and Use Your Stuff #430: Anything Goes.

Now it is time to bring on the white space!  I used this really pretty new to me Altenew Sparkle stamp for the focal point and sentiment for this card.  I am entering this card at Less is More #451: Sparkle (sentiment, WOS on the flowers & rhinestones provide my sparkle), Just Us Girls #600: 6 of Anything (6 rhinestones), AAA Cards #198: Up to One Third, Rainbow Challenge #33: Purely Plum, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Stamp It!.

Last in the line up, but dear to my heart is this adorable dog reading a book at the beach.  This reminds me of my dog, although Sherlock does not know how to read (yet).  I used Hero Arts Lounging Pups stamps and just a touch of masking.  I am entering this card at Stay Crafty with Hero #26: Rainbow,  Shopping Our Stash #453:  Summer Lovin', and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Stamp It!.
