Happy Birthday and Baked with Love

Hello and happy Friday.  Well, I finally jumped into the Slimline Card fad, inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #446.  I ordered the Mama Elephant Slim Window Dressing dies, with the idea that they might make it easier to make a slimline card, and I was right.  It was a real creative stretch to think about making a card with these different dimensions, but I am happy with my results.

Here are some additional pictures of the different sections.

All these little critters are from Mama Elephant Bookworm and Little Chickie Agenda, and I would highlight the dog reading the book outside the middle window--for Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #165: D is for Dogs and the bird, flower and stenciled background inside the windows for Seize the Birthday #196: Tic Tac Toe (bird, flower, stencil).

I am entering both this card and the next card at Watercooler Wednesday #282: Anything Goes.

I really had fun with this next card.  I was initially inspired by the challenge at Use Your Stuff #402: Family Fun.  Now that my nest is full again, with my 2 kids home from college, we have spent many evenings together watching the Great British Baking show together.  We have also started baking more, possibly inspired by the show.  My card reflects our watching baking together as well as baking together for ourselves and our neighbors and friends.  I am also entering this card at Stay Crafty with Hero #12: Friendship and A Blog Named Hero July: Embossing.

A Little Weekday Crafting

Hello and happy Wednesday!  I just got the cutest stamp set from Newton's Nook called Holding Happiness, and I just had to ink it up right away and start coloring.

The first card I made is inspired by the colors at Inky Paws #128 and the photo at Fusion Summer.

My next card is inspired by the color challenge at Cupcake Inspirations #498.  Each of those tiny flowers on the package has a little dab of Stickles for fun.

Well, if you are familiar with this stamp set, my third card will not be a surprise.  I could not decide which of the 3 fun images to use, so I used them all!  I am entering this card at AAA Cards #170.

Do you have a favorite of the three cards above?

Moving on....this next card was inspired by the sketch at The Paper Players #501.  The colors were Copics I had already out on my desk, and I made the little plaid piece using the same markers I used on the balloons.

Last up is a card that I hope will sit in my stash for a long time.  I was inspired by the sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches #381 and the stamps are my latest purchase from The Greetery Budding Beauties Summer.  I am happy to report that even though this flower was a 4 step process, it was extremely easy to get everything lined up properly.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes, and I will be entering all of these cards over there.

My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  I am here to share the results of my crafty weekend.  First up is a summer scene inspired by the sketch at MFT Wednesday Sketch #499, the photo inspiration at Fusion Summer and at Inspired by #134 and Simon Says Monday Challenge: A Day at the Beach.

Next up is this fun ferris wheel card.  My BFF Kim sent me this stamped image with the unicorn, and I added a dog and a cat from Lawn Fawn Critters in the Burbs to complete my whimsical scene.  I was inspired by the photo inspiration at Just Us Girls #546 (amusement park), Lawn Fawnatics #81: Summertime Fun (we always go to the fair in the summer), and The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #185: D is for Dog.

My next two cards are inspired by the challenges at Stay Crafty with Hero #12: Friendship and A Blog Named Hero: Embossing.  I heat embossed the sentiment on both of these cards.  I used houses and a few other small images from Welcome Neighbor as well as some branches images from last autumn's My Monthly Hero kit.

Does something on this next card look familiar to you?  Yes, I watch way too much news these days.  And, with everyone broadcasting out of their homes, I have gotten very used to seeing a talking head with a bookshelf background.  I thought that would be fun to replicate on a card.

This card was so fun to make.  I stamped the Hero Arts Bookcase Peekaboo on some scratch paper and then cut it out with the 1950's Television Die.  I colored in the portion shaped like the TV screen and tossed the rest.

The hardest decision I had to make for this card was my choice of News Anchor.  I picked this mini Tim Holtz dog, as he looks as befuddled as I often feel when I am watching the news.  Closed Captions took care of the sentiment, which conveys the message I want to send to all my friends who I miss.

I am also entering this card at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #185: D is for Dog.

My last two cards were inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #382 and the colors at Color Throwdown #603.  I am also entering at Seize the Birthday #195: No Toppings.

I could not decide which of my many tropical birds to use for this card, so I made another card with my runner up choice.

Destination Summer

Hello and happy Friday.  I recently got the new Destination Summer stamps from The Greetery, and spent most of the week stamping and cutting until I had a pile of fun little bits to combine into some cards.  I must admit that the stamping and cutting part was pretty tedious--most of the stamps were little bitty ones that required precise lining up for multi layer stamping ....but once that was done, I was able to make quite a few cards pretty quickly.

First up is a card inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #445.  I am also entering this card at AAA Birthday #15: 3D, Use Your Stuff #401: Summer Fun, Fusion: Summer, Inspired by...#134, The Paper Players #500: Celebrate and Seize the Birthday #195: No Toppings.

Here is another card using many of the same elements.  I have added a beach to this card, as well as a few bits from the PTI Petite Places stamps.  I am entering this card at many of the same challenges as the card above, as well as Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: A Day at the Beach and CAS on Friday #185:  Summer.

Here is another card--many of the same elements, just arranged a bit differently.  How about some s'mores around that little campfire (courtesy of PTI)?  All of these cards rely on 1 or 2 stencils from The Greetery Destination, and they are such a quick and easy way to define the space where I could then just place my cut out images.

This scene I like to think of as more of a little village in the summer.  Perhaps it is my own town, Cardiff by the Sea on a warm summer day.  Note the Candy Store front and center...those buildings are from PTI Petite Places.

Last up is a caravan of campers and surfers.  I think those campers are really so sweet and cute, but you could not get me to go camping no matter how close to glamping it is.  I'll just stick to the camping stamps, please.

Here they all are together.  Quite a fun collection, although now I have a new appreciation of the ease of coloring bitty stamps versus trying to line them all up to stamp!

That's it for me today.  I think I'll head to the beach now.
